Description of the walk

Head to Les Petits Robins and take the Chemin du Lac to reach Lac des Petits Robins. Car park at the end of the lake on the left.

(S/E) Return to the road and follow it to the right for about ten metres to find a small passage on the left in the grassy area that leads to the Rhône dyke. Follow the tarmac dyke to the left. Pass under a conveyor belt used to supply barges with gravel and reach a crossroads at a transformer.

Follow the road to the right (signposted La Drôme à vélo 44) for about 300 metres. Leave the road, turn right, go through a barrier and rejoin the dyke. Go around the hamlet of Printegarde, go through a barrier and join the D86f at the bridge.

(1) Cross the road (take care) and continue straight ahead (signposted Via Rhôna 4 - 47). Immediately afterwards, take the right-hand lane which joins the dyke. When the dyke meets the road, under a bridge, keep to the right, go through a barrier and continue. When you see a lock, go through one barrier and then a second one and descend to the right towards the structure. The road climbs, turns right and arrives at an esplanade (information boards on the environment, wildlife, etc.).

(2) Turn right (leaving the Via Rhôna on your left for the return journey) and join the dyke at the corner of the lock. Go through the barrier and continue. The path makes a wide left turn at the confluence of the Drôme and Rhône rivers and ends at a lock. Continue along the Drôme stone dyke and arrive at the Drôme-Rhône confluence marker. Continue right on the tarmac road and join a footbridge 50m further on. Turn right for a return trip on the footbridge to admire the river.

(3) Return to the dyke and turn right towards Livron-sur-Drôme; the path becomes stony again. Go through a barrier and continue for a good kilometre until you reach a crossroads.

(4) Turn left and then left again 20 metres further on. Follow this wilder path which runs along the other bank of the canal and leads to a tarmac road. Follow this road to the right along the Moulin canal. You will reach a lay-by and a car park with information boards. At the stop sign, turn left to find the mobile dam marker. Cross the bridge over the canal and return to the esplanade you passed on the way out.

(2) Follow the tarmac road to the right (ignoring a path that branches off further to the right) and descend towards the lock. Go back through a barrier and follow the path furthest to the right along the Petit Rhône (ignoring the two roads on the left). Quickly rejoin a path coming from the left and continue along the bank, ignoring the paths on the left. Walk through the orchards until you reach a stone bridge. Go under the bridge and continue on the main path that heads right along the Petit Rhône. Continue until you find information boards just before another bridge. Go back up to the road and cross it (take care) to the Pont du Petit Rhône Ouest marker.

(5) Turn right, cross the bridge on the pavement and then go down the first road on the left towards the weir. Follow the road as it bends to the right (ignore a path on the left that goes under the bridge) and you will come to a small bridge opposite Maison Boucher. Take the path on the right that runs alongside a small canal. It turns left and ends at a crossroads 400 metres further on. Continue straight ahead towards a building, pass it and shortly afterwards leave a path on the right. Continue along the canal until you reach a tarmac road. Turn left, go through a barrier and walk along the left side of the lake to return to the car park (S/E).

The first part of the route (on the dykes) is only on tarmac or concrete.
This route is certainly more enjoyable and less monotonous on a mountain bike or hybrid bike.

The first part leading up to the confluence is laborious. The return journey is more interesting, especially in terms of the path.

A lovely walk to warm up.
Not much to discover, but I'm not disappointed I did it.

A very good hike to get back into shape, shame the weather was gloomy.
One small detail: the car park is not easy to find, and the start of the walk is on the left, not on the right as indicated.

A pleasant, easy hike as it is flat, great for getting back into shape, which goes well with "le cul de Drôme" (the bottom of the Drôme). I will do it again in the spring when nature awakens, it will be more pleasant and the migratory birds will be back.

This hike is best done earlier in the season when it is cooler, as most of the route is in direct sunlight. This may also allow you to see more birds. Yesterday, we saw gulls, swans and herons.
Be careful if you have children, as the beginning of the last part just after the lock may raise awkward questions: "What are the ladies doing in the vans? Why are the gentlemen waiting nearby?" :whistle(whistle)whistle:

Hello,
This is an interesting route, particularly for the view of La Voulte in the first part of the route and then for the natural surroundings along the Petit Rhône. Please note that a tree has recently fallen at the junction to join the Petit Rhône, making the passage a little challenging!
