The tour of the two bridges at Guilherand-Granges

Park at the Stade des Combes car park, south of Guilherand-Granges.

(S/E) Cross at the pedestrian crossing then turn right heading due south. After the metal barrier, continue along the embankment, still heading south.

(1) As you approach the Pont des Lones, take the small metal footbridge on the right, then turn left towards the steps. Climb the steps to reach the bridge and cross it.

(2) Take the steps on the left to return to the banks of the Rhône on the Drôme side and head north towards Port de L’Épervière: you are now on the Via Rhona, withthe wreck of the Toueur, the port of Valence and the Harbour Master’s Office. After passing the Harbour Master’s Office, join a tarmac road opposite a pumping station.

(3) Turn left to reach the banks of the Rhône.

(4) You have the choice of taking the Rhône riverbank or the path inside the Parc de l’Épervière; both lead to the same place. The route chosen combines a bit of both: a section through the park, then the riverbank path. Keep heading north as you follow the A7 motorway, which is a bit noisy.

(5) Turn right through the underpass beneath the motorway to reach the traffic lights beneath Parc Jouvet. Cross at the pedestrian crossing, then take the gate furthest to the left: if you wish to cross Parc Jouvet, take the second gate. After a slight climb, you’ll emerge onto Boulevard Gambetta at the foot of the Pont F. Mistral.

(6) Turn left to cross the bridge and enter Guilherand-Granges.

(7) Take the steps on the left leading down to Rue Thiers and continue south. Cross Rue des Brandons, continue straight on along Boulevard Charles de Gaulle and cross as soon as possible to return to the banks of the Rhône. This will take you back to the Stade des Combes car park (S/E).
