Prébois walks

This walk in the heart of the Trièves region offers some beautiful panoramic views. You are surrounded by the peaks of Dévoluy and Vercors. The route mainly follows beautiful paths and, in part, small roads.

An easy walk, surrounded by peaks: Le Chatel, L'Obiou, Le Grand Ferrand, Les Deux Aiguilles, Le Jocou, Le Mont-Aiguille, Le Grand Veymont... All while passing through the villages of Trièves. A fairly shaded walk, ideal in summer.

A short but very pleasant walk in the heart of the Trièves basin. You will have beautiful panoramic views of the many peaks that surround it. A walk that is particularly accessible to families.

This hike ends on a plateau dominated by the Dévoluy's landmark mountain: the Obiou.

Are you looking for fresh air and wide open spaces with breathtaking views of the Vercors mountain range and the Ecrins massif? This moderately difficult hike will give you the feeling of being high in the mountains.

An easy hike, best done in spring or autumn. This route will allow you to discover this corner of the Trièves with its snow-capped mountains in spring, as well as the village of Clelles. Throughout the route, you can enjoy views of the Vercors with Mont Aiguille nearby, the Obiou and, in the distance, the Oisans massif.

The first day is a long one, starting at the foot of Mont-Aiguille with alternating steep climbs and gentler passages through mountain pastures and forests.

This cave is located at the foot of the majestic west face of the Petit and Grand Ferrand (700 m vertical drop). With a view of the Triève and Vercors in the background. See § Practical information.

This walk is a variation on the classic tour of the Himalayan footbridges of Lake Monteynard, which does not require a boat trip (for a fee) to return to the starting point. In addition, this route takes you to the Pas du Berlioz (very beautiful view of the lake) and the Pont de Brion. It is hardly any longer than taking the boat, as you don't need to go all the way to the pier, which is quite far away. However, part of the route is a return trip.

A snowshoe hike (also possible on foot outside the snow season) where you can admire a magnificent 360-degree landscape. (!) Please note that during the summer grazing season, there are herds and guard dogs between (3) and (4). See Practical Information.

A superb, quick walk to the Drac footbridge, along the north bank of the river of the same name, south of Lake Monteynard. Beautiful views of the lake and river, until you cross the Himalayan footbridge before returning.

I suggest a new hike, perfect for a half-day, with a magnificent viewpoint at the summit of Côte Rouge.

In an unspoilt area, a historic trail marked by the Trièves Tourist Office will take you from the woods of Tréminis to the Alpages de la Paille. At the Col de la Croix, you will be treated to superb panoramic views of the Grand Ferrand and the entire Dévoluy mountain range! With a little extra effort, you can also enjoy views of the Vallon de la Jarjatte and the Rocher Rond.

A beautiful variety of landscapes, beautiful views of the Drac gorges, the upper reaches of Lake Monteynard and, of course, the Vercors, Oisans, Obioux, etc. Yellow markings will guide you along the way, and there are numerous hiking signs to help you find your way.

Between Isère and Drôme, Jocou dominates the Diois Massif. Although only 2,051 metres high, it offers an exceptional view of all the relatively low mountain ranges in the south-west of the Alps. It is not uncommon to see vultures flying over these sheep pastures.

Author's noteSorry: the circular described below is no longer possible due to the closure of the trail between points (13) and (15) (see message from May 2023).A superb circular in the isolated islet of south-eastern Vercors, on the border between Drôme and Isère. The route combines the geological curiosity of the Sucettes de Borne, the flowers and wide open spaces of the Jiboui mountain pastures, and a long route along grassy ridges crowned by the Jocou, with extraordinary panoramic views.

The tour of Mont Aiguille remains a classic, but to appreciate this "ocean liner", what could be better than gaining some height? The view is not only of Mont Aiguille, as from the summit of Goutaroux you have a 360° view: from Grenoble to Trièves, as far as Dévoluy on one side. From the Vercors ridges to the Chartreuse on the other side.

This superb ship, isolated from the main Vercors mountain range, remains docked and admired by all, especially its majestic bow, which dominates the villages of Trézanne and Richardière.

A hike starting from one of the hamlets of Lus-la-Crois-Haute (Les Amayères) that alternates between meadows, forests, balcony crossings and mountain pastures. A fairly short route with an elevation gain of only 480 m, but offering magnificent panoramic views of the surrounding mountains (Jocou, Rognon, Jagène, Pointe Feuillette, etc.).

This hike, which is not particularly difficult, offers breathtaking views of the Dévoluy mountain range: the Grande Tête de l'Obiou, the Tête de l'Aupet, the Grand Ferrand, the Rocher Rond, the Roc and the Tête de Garnesier, with Bure in the background. To the west, Toussière and Jocou, with the Trois Becs in the distance. Further north, Le Rognon and the summit of L'Aup. In the background, the Vercors mountain range. And many other peaks that I'll leave you to guess.

A beautiful hike around the Bellemotte mountain, first through the forest and then along a ridge offering spectacular views. The descent passes by the Sucettes de Bornes, an interesting geological curiosity.

A pleasant and easy circular hike from the Col de Grimone (1,138 m). Views of the Drôme peaks. In early summer, the circuit offers the chance to see many beautiful flowers. This hike is accessible to people who are prone to vertigo, allowing them to enjoy hiking in the mountains.

This is an easy hike, whose main attraction is the superb site of the Sucettes de Borne, narrow, vertical rock formations several dozen metres high, defying the laws of gravity. The trails are very pleasant, with contrasting vegetation: on the south side, semi-Mediterranean with forests mainly populated by pine trees; on the north side, a beautiful mixed forest of fir and beech trees, with lots of boxwood.

A magnificent walk, although the slopes are sometimes quite steep on both the ascent and descent. The landscapes and flora are remarkable.

Beautiful wild hike in the Jarjatte valley to Lac de Lauzon and the Col de Charnier for views to the south. Return via the Col des Aurias.

Starting from the legendary Jarjatte valley, this hike takes you to the rocky landscape of the Tête du Vallon Pierra via the Tête and Lac du Lauzon, nestled in its green setting, which is undergoing eutrophication. The landscapes criss-crossed by chamois and griffon vultures and the views are breathtaking. A small part of the route is off-trail, but on obvious terrain, and the only real difficulty is the elevation gain of over 1,000 metres.

Balcony hike on the transhumance mountain pastures at the bottom of the Jarjatte valley, cul-de-sac and sources of the Buëch. Beautiful panoramic views. Access: from Luz la Croix Haute, go to the end of the Jarjatte road.

A magnificent circular route around the Cirque du Fleyrard, passing by the Tête de Plate Longue and the highest peak in the Vercors Natural Park, the Rocher Rond, 2453m. From the Col de Charnier, the route is completely off-trail, with herds of chamois being the main encounters. A short 3c climbing section with a slight overhang, sharp ridges and exposed slopes on very steep scree justify the level of difficulty.
