The hike starts at the hamlet of Les Amayères. You can park in a small car park on the right-hand side of the road as you leave the village (around five spaces).
(S/E) Leave this car park by turning right onto the tarmac road that climbs up to the hamlet of Les Sièzes. After the houses, this road turns into a track. Continue to an intersection (reservoir).
(1) Take the path on the right (towards Col de Chante) which climbs gently and follow it for about 600 m until you reach another intersection.
(2) Leave the main path and turn right onto another steeply ascending track (old yellow-green markings). At the end of the climb, you will come out onto a meadow.
(3) Turn right into the Lus National Forest and take a pleasant, fairly steep forest track which leads to a three-way junction after 400 m.
(4) Take the path on the left (barrier preventing vehicle access), pass a first hairpin bend, continue straight ahead uphill until you reach a plateau at an altitude of 1573 metres. Please note: do not go to the second hairpin bend.
(5) At a cairn, take the small, barely visible path on the left. When you leave the forest, this path turns into a narrow balcony path on a grassy slope.
Superb panoramic views of Jocou and Montagne du Rognon.
The path then heads east, crosses blueberry bushes and joins the Col Tournerond.
Another panoramic view of Pointe Feuillette, Montagne de Jajène and Aiguilles de Lus.
(6) Descend straight down into the meadow to find a path that leads downhill (towards Vallon de Tranchemule).
(7) At the signpost for Vallon de Tranchemule, ignore the path that heads left uphill towards Col de Jagène and Pointe Feuillette, and continue downhill through the valley to reach the sheepfolds.
(8) Take the track (GR® 93) that runs alongside the Ruisseau des Amayères and, after passing through the gorges of the same name, you will reach the hamlet and the Amayères car park (S/E).
