Glun walks

A lovely walk in the Ardèche hills among chestnut trees. Views of the Isère plain, Mont Pilat and the Alps in the Vercors.

This hike, which is not technically difficult, allows you to admire the Bassin des Musards Bird Sanctuary and the village of La Roche De Glun.

A lovely walk on the heights of Châteaubourg, with stunning views over the Rhône Valley and the hillsides of Saint-Joseph. Unfortunately, the end of the walk is on tarmac (very little traffic).

Pending an alternative, this hike, which passes through private property between (11) and (12), is currently prohibited. Starting from Châteaubourg, you will cross the appellation vineyards to reach the Pic de Saint-Romain-de-Lerps, where you will have a 360° view of the Monts d'Ardèche and the Rhône Valley, with the Vercors and the Alps in the background. The northern Côtes du Rhône wine region has a strong identity and a remarkable landscape characterised by steep hillsides. It is a land of great wines, renowned throughout the world. Starting at the foot of the vineyards, you climb through the woods and arrive on the Ardèche plateau. You get a glimpse of northern Ardèche, next to the Rhône valley. The landscapes are varied and at the summit, you can enjoy views of the Vercors and the Alps.

Hike south of Tournon, climbing up a wild, wooded valley. The descent is easier, with a final circular loop through the vineyards. This hike has three circular routes, so you can adjust the route to suit your preferences.

Starting from the Eygas plateau in Cornas, we climb to Saint-Romain-de-Lerps with a magnificent view of the Rhône valley and, in good weather, from Mont Ventoux to Mont Blanc via the Vercors and the Ecrins.Along the route, you’ll pass the chapels of Saint-Pierre and Le Pic, as well as a host of small hamlets. A lovely hike offering beautiful views of the Rhône Valley, the Alps and the Ardèche. A 15-minute drive from Valence, this hike leads you around the beautiful surroundings of this small village. Note that Saint-Romain-de-Lerps is one of the classic walks in the area, because there is a beautiful lookout point with a chapel, 2 orientation tables and a picnic area alongside.

A short, gentle walk around Saint-Romain-de-Lerps, mostly on the GR®420 trail, which takes you from the Belvédère du Pic (with an extraordinary 360° view) to the Col de Gazareau, passing through the hamlets of Combes and Beauliac.

This walk is a variation on the Cornas la Borne route. The first section offers a lovely walk above the Cornas vineyards, returning via familiar paths between (6) and (12) on the other route. The second variation involves the descent to the village of Cornas.

You can enhance your walk with a stop at one of the many wine producers or a chocolate tasting at Llanas in Tournon or the Valrhôna shop in Tain. A pleasant route that takes you past the Château de l’Amirale de Joybert, the Chanalets golf course and the Manoir de Genas, a historic 14th-century residence.

A beautiful loop between Doux and Duzon.

A short walk in the Bois des Blaches along the Ruisseau du Saveyre, then up to the heights in the middle of the vineyards, first in Saint-Péray, then in Cornas. Return via the track linking Cornas to Saint-Péray. Please note that due to roadworks on the St Péray bypass, the return journey between points 10 and 11 is temporarily impossible. Continue along the D 86 on the footpath and cycle path to reach point 11 directly.

Starting from Saint-Péray, another way to explore the Roche Percée des Arlettes in Cornas. A walk offering numerous panoramic views of Crussol Castle, the Rhône Valley, the Vercors, the Trois Becs and as far as the Diois, plus the magnificent vineyards of Saint-Péray and Cornas.

An easy hike between the plains of Saint-Péray and Cornas. We quickly move from the town to the countryside. The path along the railway line between St-Péray and Cornas is no longer accessible due to work on the St-Péray bypass.At (2), follow the D86 towards Cornas, then take the first street on your right after the Cornas petrol station to reach the level crossing (between 3 and 4).

A short walk to discover the surroundings of Chateauneuf-sur-Isère. Part of the route is on small, quiet tarmac roads, but it is nonetheless pleasant.

Explore the ruins of La Villette and Crussol Castle, followed by a long walk along the ridges offering views of the Rhône valley and the Vercors.

Circular loop of 10 km north of Mercurol, easy, ideal for a gentle return to walking. The wooded section is very pleasant. The outward journey takes you through Les Gerles and the return via Les Arbouresses before heading back down towards the village.

This walk will take you past the vineyards that produce the famous Saint-Péray wine. You’ll be right up close to the Marsanne and Roussane vines, trained on stakes. This route also offers beautiful views of the town of Saint-Péray, Crussol Hill and its castle, as well as the Vercors in the distance.

A circular loop around the Crussol massif, passing by the three castles in the commune of Saint-Péray. Its main attraction is the quick ascent to the Crussol ridge, offering views of the Rhône valley and Crussol Castle from above on the south side. The route takes an hour to walk, but feel free to allow twice that time to enjoy the sites you pass through at your leisure.

A short, leisurely stroll along the Mialan, to enjoy the views of Crussol Mountain, its castle, the vineyards, and above all the stream, which flows in autumn and winter but is dry at other times. This is a classic Sunday afternoon walk for all residents of Saint-Perolles.

This accessible circular route promises a total immersion in a unique environment as you explore the Montagne de Crussol, passing through the forest, the ridges and the ruined castle. It offers breathtaking views of the Rhône Valley, the Vercors and much more.

A walk between the plateau and the Duzon that will allow you to discover the beautiful variety of landscapes in Saint-Barthélémy-le-Plain.

Mountain bike or hybrid bike ride between Bourg-lès-Valence and La Roche-de-Glun, via the Voie Verte and wide paths along the Rhône.

Passage près de l'ancienne carrière de kaolin encore exploitée il y a quelques années et abandonnée maintenant. Route starting from the Auberge du Pin, passing through the Col de Leyrisse. A third of the route is on small roads with very little traffic.

A lovely walk around the Auberge du Pin, home to the famous Restaurant Pic. Beautiful views of the Vercors after the Serre de Coudiol and towards Perrier. A few tarmac roads but not too much traffic except on the Route des Crêtes.

The hike is mainly in the woods, on pleasant paths. You will be in the shade in summer and sheltered from the north wind (Mistral) if it blows (frequent in the region). Wild descent to Vion, with a few views of the Rhône valley. The last two kilometres are easy, on the plain, through the orchards of the Rhône valley.

A path along the Rhône to be explored on foot or by bicycle, discovering the heritage and natural environments.

Take advantage of this beautiful little walk to discover the Daronne valley, with its meanders, gorges and interpretive trail. If you wish, you can extend the walk by returning to the Saint-Sorny footbridge.

A pleasant walk in the Ardèche countryside, sometimes on small paved roads, but also on beautiful forest paths. In Champis - La Bâtie de Crussol, a short detour will take you to the Pierre Branlante (rocking stone), then on the way back, you will see some megaliths in the meadows.

This short circuit, near Alboussière, alternates between wooded passages, opening onto pretty panoramas, and typical hamlets: the countryside wins us over!
