Depart from the free car park at Saint-Péray station.
(S/E) From the station, head towards the bridge over the Mialan and follow Avenue du Docteur Marc Bouvat on the right, on the left bank of the river. At the roundabout, cross the Mialan and continue on the right bank, on the D533, towards Toulaud, and continue for about 100 metres.
(1) Turn left onto Chemin de Beauregard, towards Château de Crussol. Then take the concrete path on the right and start the fairly steep climb to Château de Beauregard.
(2) Turn left, facing the entrance, then take the concrete path on the right. After climbing a few steps, you will reach the inn and the car park.
(3) Go through the barrier and follow the path on the left that climbs between the car park and the inn to reach the ruins of Château de Crussol.
(4) Take the path straight ahead, marked "VTT" (mountain biking), to avoid getting lost in the magnificent castle ruins (unless you want to take the opportunity to visit them). Follow the path straight ahead, ignoring the paths branching off to the right. A gentle climb will take you to a paragliding launch area.
(5) Turn left and pass under the cliff. Follow the side of the mountain with a superb view of the Rhône and the Vercors on flat terrain. Continue straight ahead over the rocks, then follow a magnificent ridge with a view of the Rhône on the left and Saint-Peray and Toulaud on the right. The path descends gently to a road (the famous "Val d'Enfer" used by professional cyclists).
(6) Turn right and then right again at the next junction. At the three-way junction, just after the sign for Saint-Peray, turn right and continue to thesecond fork, a few metres after a sharp left-hand bend.
(7) Leave the tarmac and take the clearly visible path on the right. Continue for about 50 metres, then turn onto the path on the left that enters the woods, which is very pleasant to follow. Continue to the next fork.
(8) Turn left and avoid the hill opposite. Continue along the undulating single track on the mountainside, which is not particularly difficult and is shaded. Ignore a path branching off to the left and continue to the next fork.
(9) Descend to the left (do not stay on the path that goes uphill), pass in front of a climbing wall, then turn left to extend the route and enjoy the undergrowth. Pass a gully, cross a path and reach the next junction. Turn right, follow a mountain bike trail and arrive at a road.
(10) Continue for about 20 metres, then take the path on the right. Ignore a path on the right and continue to a T-junction. Turn left until you reach a three-way junction.
(11) Turn left and follow the fence on your left until you reach the crossroads by the inn, which you passed on the way there.
(3) Turn left and take the stairs to reach the entrance to Beauregard Castle.
(2) Leave the route you have already taken and follow the pretty path on the left that runs alongside a goat park. Continue along the path until you reach a stop sign. Turn right and, at the roundabout, take the lane on the right bank of the Mialan.
(1) Ignore Chemin de Beauregard on the right, go through the roundabout and continue along the right bank of the river. At the bridge, turn left and head for the station (S/E).
