Description of the route

Park in the Île Girodet car park in Bourg Les Valence.

(S/E) With your back to the Rhône, turn left onto the cycle path.

(1) Bridge over the Barberolle (river). Continue on to the power station.

(2) Turn left onto the road and cross the dam.

(3) Turn right onto the gravel track along the dyke for about 3 km. (For those on road bikes, it is possible to take the departmental road parallel to the track).

(4) Return to the tarmac road and cross the Isère dam, continuing for about 900 m until you reach a path on the left with a barrier and boulders.

(5) Follow it to the left (Chemin de Cogne), keep north on Rue de Crussol and reach a four-way intersection.

(6) Turn left at the first road, Chemin de Saint-Jean, until you reach another four-way intersection.

(7) Turn left, heading south, onto Chemin des Jos, then, in the left-hand bend, keep to the right until you reach Chemin du Four à Chaux. Then stay on Chemin de Saint-Jean until you reach the fork with a track on the left and house no. 585 on the right.

(8) Turn left, ride alongside the orchards, then continue as close as possible to the Rhône until you reach the La Roche-de-Glun dam.

(9) Go around the roundabout and join the cycle path along the riverbank. Pass in front of the jousting basin, go around the lake and continue to the bridge that crosses the canal (Avenue du Vercors).

(10) Go under the bridge, then turn right immediately and take the D220a on the right to cross the bridge.

(11) Immediately afterwards, turn right onto the cycle path which takes you downhill to the Via Rhôna. Head left, south-east towards Valence, with the canal on your right. At the railway line, turn right and cross the bridge over the Isère.

(12) Immediately afterwards, turn right towards the south-west, in the direction of Valence. Continue along the edge of the Rhône until you reach a street on the left (photovoltaic power station).

(13) Turn left onto Rue Antoine Becquerel and join the cycle path. Continue towards Valence to reach the Île Girodet car park (S/E).
