Park at the corner of Route de Lamastre and Chemin du Berthier.
(S/E) Take Chemin du Berthier, heading south. After about 300 metres, the road turns right.
(1) Shortly after the bend, take the path on the left which crosses a small bridge over the Ruisseau du Berthier. Continue to a ruined house and turn right onto a wider path.
(2) At the intersection, follow the tarmac road on the left, Chemin des Trousses.
(3) At the end of the street, turn right onto Chemin de Chabot. Continue until you reach the intersection with a path on the right.
(4) Take this path, which climbs and leads you to a place called Plot.
(5) You will come to a track; follow it to the right (marked yellow and white). After about 300 m, leave the track and take a path that descends to the right. Cross a stream and continue west, then south-southwest.
(6) Cross the Ruisseau du Berthier and climb up the other side. At a fork, keep to the right (marked yellow and white). Cross a road and take the path opposite that descends north-northwest. You will soon reach the GR® 420 at a place called Ferrand.
(7) Follow the GR®420 (red and white markings) to the left, heading south-west. Pass under a high-voltage power line, come out onto a road and follow it to the left for about 50 metres.
(8) Just after the houses, climb a rock on the left to reach an unmarked path that rises above the road. The clearing carried out in December 2021 makes it easy to follow the path as it climbs to reach a field, which you should follow on the left-hand side. Then continue climbing in a southerly direction.
(9) Reach a road and follow it to the right. Ignore a road on the left and cross the hamlet of Le Rey. Continue along a track to a place called Le Bec.
(10) Then turn right (north) to follow the GR®420. Descend and, after several hairpin bends, you will reach a T-junction.
(11) Then turn right. Keep heading north-northwest until you reach La Grange de Vaure. Ignore a path coming from the right at the entrance to the hamlet.
(12) In the hamlet, take the next path on the right. Join a tarmac road and follow it to the right until you reach Mouret.
(8) Continue along the road and, after about 50 metres, turn right onto the GR®420 towards Ferrand (in the opposite direction to the outward journey).
(7) Continue straight ahead on the path (ignore the outward route on the right). You will soon reach a road and follow it to the left (north), still with the GR®®. After 300 m, you will reach a cross.
(13) Just after the cross, turn right (east) onto an unmarked path that is not shown on the map. Climb up to reach a wider path. Follow this yellow and white marked path to the left. Descend to reach the Chemin du Berthier.
(1) Follow the path to the left until you reach Route de Lamastre (S/E).
