Park in the centre of Mercurol in the large car park below the town hall.
(S/E) After Rue des Fontaines, head for the steps and take them to reach Mercurol Church. Continue along Impasse des Acacias. Just before the end of the road, you’ll reach a crossroads.
(1) Turn left onto this path and follow it to the Route de la Beaume. Turn left onto this road and continue to a T-junction. Here you will find the Route des Alpes, which runs alongside the Ruisseau de la Burge. Turn right onto this road until you reach the junction with the Chemin du Champs du Mas.
(2) Turn left here and continue along the path that follows it. A few metres further on, you’ll reach a Y-shaped path junction.
(3) Take the left-hand branch to reach the hamlet of L’Oulé. Turn left and stay on this wide path. After a right-hand hairpin bend, continue along Impasse des Ruches and then rejoin Route des Gerles.
(4) Turn left onto it, follow it and arrive at a junction in a hairpin bend.
(5) Leave the road here and turn right onto Chemin des Châtaigniers. Walk alongside a vineyard before reaching the hamlet of Les Gerles. Continue along the path which passes near a lodge, then enter the woods.
(6) Turn left at the Y-junction (blue arrow). At the next crossroads, keep right to reach a walnut orchard. Keep left along the edge to reach the Route des Bois just before the hamlet of Pétabard.
(7) Cross the road and continue straight ahead, following the orchards and vineyards. Reach the hamlet of Les Essarts. Turn right onto Route des Plots and follow it to the four-way junction.
(8) Turn left onto Chemin Saint-Clément and continue straight on to the site of the former Saint-Clément Chapel, now demolished. Carry on, pass under the power line and reach the crossroads before the bridge over the Ruisseau de la Bouterne.
(9) Turn left onto Route de Blanchelaine, then left again at the next junction onto Chemin de la Garenne. At the junction by the pylon, turn right, staying on Chemin de la Garenne, and rejoin Route de Blanchelaine.
(10) Turn left onto it, follow it, then turn left off it to join Chemin de la Burge. Stay on this road until you reach the junction with Route des Alpes.
(11) Turn left onto it, continue until you reach a roundabout, then turn right onto Rue des Fontaines to reach the Four Banal car park (S/E).
