Bréançon walks

A varied hike through woods and fields with two beautiful churches in Bréançon and Le Heaulme. Lovely views over vast fields of green wheat, dotted here and there with red poppies. It's a shame there's a bit too much road.

Although the route ends on a road, it is very quiet and the narrowness of the road forces cars to drive at a speed that makes them very tolerable.

Walk starting from Chars SNCF station passing the Château de Saint-Cyr-sur-Chars. On the way back to Chars there is a narrow pedestrian passage that starts with a staircase.

A hike on the slopes of both banks of the Viosne, alternating between cultivated fields, woodland and charming villages. For about 3 kilometres, the route follows the course of an ancient Roman road, the Chaussée Jules César. There is a rich heritage to discover along the way: mills, a castle, churches, crosses, wash houses and beautiful houses.

Between town and countryside, this walk is mainly marked by yellow PR® markers.

A 17.5-kilometre route starting from Commeny (Val d'Oise) and passing through Santeuil.For fans of naturist hiking (known as "randonue" to those in the know), certain sections of this route can be covered completely naked. Although encounters with other people are possible, the risk is minimal. Don't forget to bring something to cover yourself with (skirt, shorts, sarong, etc.), especially when passing through villages, so as not to shock anyone you might meet. Always be courteous and explain your naturist approach. This hike can of course be done fully clothed, with nudity being a bonus for randonue enthusiasts.The hike starts and ends in the village of Commeny in front of the church. There are parking spaces on Rue de l'Église and in the adjacent streets. There is no public transport to Commeny.

An easy loop around Commeny via Le Perchay and the Chaussée Jules César.

A hike from station to station with the Oise as the guiding thread. You will cross several wooded parks and follow the river for a long time, mostly on a right of way. At the end of the route, the passage through Auvers-sur-Oise is an opportunity to evoke the famous painter Vincent Van Gogh.

A circular starting from Hédouville takes you through Hodan, Messelan and Frouville.

A circular route through five villages in the Vexin Regional Park, partly following the old Valmondois Marines railway line, a secondary line that closed in the 1950s but whose old stations are still visible.

The circuit starts by taking you along the Sausseron valley, then climbs up the hillside and continues through fields. You return to Nesles via paths through the woods. The circuit also allows you to discover a unique site called the Trou à Morts.

This route is rich in history and allows you to discover the heritage of Pontoise and its little-known paths.

A short hike starting from Nucourt, in the French Vexin region. At the start of this route, you will pass close (100m) to the church of Nucourt, which is unusual in that it is not located in the centre of the village.

This hike passes through the villages of Auvers-sur-Oise, Valmondois and Butry-sur-Oise, alternating between countryside and the banks of the Oise. All these places have provided numerous subjects for landscape painters, notably Dupré, Daubigny and Pissarro, precursors of the Impressionists. Even today, visitors are struck by the charm of this region in all seasons.

A circular starting from Auvers-sur-Oise that follows the ravine through the valleys, then climbs up to Hérouville and passes through the Palous and Chaponval fields before returning to Auvers.

This circular walk takes you on a journey of discovery through the four vineyards of Jouy-le-Moutier. You will learn about the past activities of this hillside with its old limestone quarries, the former CGB railway line that linked Pontoise to Poissy, the Jouy-le-Moutier menhir and two wash houses.

This mainly forest hike will take you to the Galluis Regional Forest, then on to the village of Frémainville, where you will discover some interesting heritage sites. It is best to do this walk during the dry season.

The route follows the Avenue Verte (Paris-London cycle route) from Jouy-le-Moutier to Vauréal. After crossing the Oise at the major axis, it returns via the Cergy ponds and the towpath to the Pont de Neuville bridge.

A hike starting from Valmondois towards the Château d'Ogivaux and the Moulin le Roy, then heading towards L'Isle-Adam through the woods. Walk along the left bank towards the new port of L'Isle-Adam, then around the lake, and continue along the banks of the Oise via the GR®1 greenway.

A pleasant hike along the Sausseron, a small stream in Valmondois, past the mills and back via the steam tramway museum and its old railway line.

Half of the route takes you through the Forest of L'Isle-Adam. This hike from station to station offers other points of interest, including two covered walkways dating from the Neolithic period.

The Cergy-Neuville Leisure Centre is located in a loop of the Oise River. The hike crosses the centre, giving you an idea of the variety of activities on offer there. It continues along the slopes of the right bank of the river, offering beautiful views of the entire meander. The passage through Port-Cergy, as well as several heritage sites (churches, wash houses, covered walkways, etc.), adds to the interest of the walk.

This walk takes you past numerous wash houses fed by springs located on the circular Oise in the municipalities of Jouy-le-Moutier, Vauréal and Cergy. Along the way, you will discover the Jouy-le-Moutier municipal park known as "Parc Raclet", the Rue des Blanchards and its curiosities, the old railway line that linked Pontoise to Poissy, the Axe Majeur, Gérard Philippe's house and the Cergy ponds leisure centre.

A water-themed hike: from the meanders of the Aubette to the springs that enliven the Vexin region.

A circular starting from Maurecourt cemetery, passing through the Berthe Morisot trail, the Château du Fay, the Écancourt farm, the Bois de Jouy and returning to Maurecourt along the old railway line.

A lovely walk along the banks of the Seine, passing through pretty villages such as Evecquemont. The starting point and finishing point are two stations on the same SNCF line.

Starting from Place de la Foulerie in Chaumont-en-Vexin, this is a pleasant walk with no particular difficulties. You can explore (with dry feet) the wetlands that stretch across this area crossed by the Troësne, channelled by the digging of the Marquemont Canal from 1784 onwards. You will walk along the Bois de la Brosse, where there is a fountain where you can refresh yourself and fill your water bottle before continuing towards the hamlet of Le Vivray. With all your senses awakened, you will be able to appreciate the diversity of this wetland plain. In Loconville, you can see the church where Sylvie Vartan and Johnny Halliday were married. Your route will then take you back via the Château de Rebetz and its magnificent golf course.

This walk will introduce you to this small town, which has just been awarded the title of "Petite Cité de Caractère" (Small Town of Character). Before leaving the town hall, where the tour starts, discover the Raymond Pillon Museum of Archaeology and Palaeontology and its rich collection. The town, crossed by numerous waterways, is centred around the Place de la Foulerie, so named because, in the past, flax harvested in the surrounding countryside was fulled there. Throughout the tour, you will have numerous views of the magnificent 16th-century church, which resembles a small cathedral. If you wish, you can take this tour with a guide on thethird Sunday of each month at 3pm.

Discover the town of Chaumont-en-Vexin, a small town of character, by following in the footsteps of Jacquot, the little boy from Chaumont who walked around it a thousand times in the 1950s. After a long absence, he returns to the place of his childhood and invites you to follow him.

The destination of this hike is an imposing Neolithic dolmen and a small menhir. The hike takes you through fields and woods, with the charming village of Chambors halfway along the route. The commune of Chambors is part of the Vexin-Thelle Community of Communes. It has 314 inhabitants, known as Camborsiens and Camborsiennes.

Discover the Domaine de Bertichères, whose magnificent Renaissance-style château has been listed as a historic monument since 1999. It houses a hotel. Its grounds include a very popular golf course. It belonged to the Counts of Chaumont, then to the Dukes of Longueville, then to the Princes of Conti. It was the residence of Monsieur, brother of King Louis XIV. On the way back, you will visit the Chapel of the House of the Sisters of Compassion to admire a 13th-century bas-relief before strolling through the small cemetery of the Sisters adjoining it.

At the southern edge of the French Vexin, a loop that starts along the Montcient river, with the old Moulin Brûlé, and then alternates between ascents and descents in the woods or between fields.

In the southern French Vexin region, this circuit takes you through fields and woods, playing leapfrog with the River Montcient. The Cave aux Fées, a covered passage dating from 2500 BC, bears witness to ancient human occupation. A dovecote, an old water mill and several wash houses are also worth seeing.

During this varied, hilly hike, you will discover three small villages as you stroll along narrow streets and paths. You will walk along a few hillside and woodland trails, discover beautiful viewpoints and stroll along the Seine on your return.
