Description of the walk

Start from Santeuil-le-Perchay station (Transilien line J). The walk is circular; drivers can park in the small, free car park at the station.

(S) With your back to the Viosne, head south-west along Rue de la Tour de Viosne (do not go into the village).

(1) At the T-junction, turn right into Rue des Epagnes, then left into Chemin des Basses Ruelles.

(2) Enter the woods, cross the Couleuvre and enter Vallière.

(3) Turn right, pass a pumping station and continue straight on to the Vallière pond.

(4) Go round the pond on the right, following the Couleuvre.

(5) Turn right into the fields and head uphill.

(6) At the crossroads, turn left onto the Sentier des Eragnes, staying in the fields, and you will reach a road.

(7) Turn left into the woods and cross two streams.

(8) Turn left towards Moulin Neuf, then the Moulin de Gouline pond.

(9) At the mill, continue straight on with the PR® sign, following the Couleuvre stream, passing the water collection points.

(10) On emerging from the woodland, cross the fields and arrive at Commeny, which you cross via Rue du Stade. Walk past the water tower and the museum to reach Grande Rue.

(11) Turn right, pass the Town Hall, then continue straight on.

(12) Turn right onto Rue de Moussy (D159), with houses on the right and fields on the left. Stay on the D159, then, after leaving the village, turn left and follow the road for about 50 metres.

(13) Leave the PR® and continue straight on along the D159; follow the PR® across the fields. Ignore a path on the right and walk alongside Moussy cemetery, enter the village and pass in front of the Ancien Prieuré. At the Town Hall, turn left onto Rue de l’Abreuvoir and rejoin the PR®. Turn right onto a path between woods and fields; the path veers left and leads to a crossroads.

(14) Continue to the right through the fields, cross a path and go straight on for about 200 m.

(15) Turn right and enter a wood, pass a pumping station and arrive at the Moulin de Noisemont.

(16) Turn right onto the GR®1, following the edge of the Petit Bois through the marsh. You’ll come out onto a small tarmac road not far from the railway line and rejoin the PR®.

(17) Continue in the same direction, following the railway line. Return to Santeuil-le-Perchay station (S/E).

What a lovely walk! I loved the sections through the forest, walking alongside the streams and hopping from pond to pond, but also the picturesque little villages. I didn’t mind the stretches through the fields, especially at this time of year when the sun is starting to take on its spring colours without the air having quite reached spring temperatures yet. One of my best walks within a 45-minute radius of my home! The final section is still off-limits to walkers, even though it has been partially cleared, as I did give it a go myself; there’s one section in particular that’s very tricky. I wouldn’t recommend doing what I did!
A big thank you for this walk!

Overall, a beautiful hike despite some rather long stretches across fields. At point 13, take a short detour to explore Moussy, follow Rue de l'Abreuvoir and climb up to the priory. After your walk, come back down the same street, take the discovery trail and climb back up to point 14. At point 17, the path is impassable, so take the Epages path to reach Santeui station.

Please note that from point 17 onwards, we come to a path that runs alongside the railway line. This path is no longer passable as there are fallen trees along its entire length and even the path itself is blocked, forcing us to walk on the railway tracks for a few metres. This is quite dangerous. In fact, there is a sign stating that hikers are no longer allowed on this path. I do not know if there is another path that will take us back to Santeuil station.

A pleasant walk through pretty villages,
between 12 and 13 (exit Commeny on the D159) is dangerous, as cars drive fast
from 17 onwards, the path is closed and declared impassable (signs) due to fallen trees, and it's true that having done it, there are two sections that are tricky
