Park on Rue des Goulets in Marines.
(S/E) Join the GR®1, heading due west. Cross the Parc d’Activités de la Richarderie. Pass under the D915, turn left immediately and head for a crossroads.
(1) Turn right and continue along the GR®1 until you reach a road.
(2) Ignore this road, take the path to the right and continue on the GR®1D. Walk past the water tanks and enter a woodland.
(3) At the junction, turn left. Continue along Rue de la Mairie and pass in front of Brignancourt Town Hall. Carry straight on downhill. At Place des Tilleuls, turn left and, at the Stop sign, turn right onto the D159, Rue de la Viosne.
(4) Cross the bridge over the Viosne; 150 metres after the level crossing, you’ll find the start of a path on the right. Take this path, enter the woods and continue to the fork just after the building on your right. Turn right towards the Moulin de Noisemont.
(5) Carry on straight ahead and enter the woods at Moulin de Noisemont, continuing to follow the GR®1D. As you emerge from the woods, you’ll come to a sewage treatment plant at No. 64.
(6) Turn right and continue along the GR®1D. Cross the bridge, turn left and walk alongside the railway line on your right. Pass the Fournil du Moulin and, at the Stop sign, carry on straight ahead along Rue du Château Gaillard in Chars. You’ll come to a level crossing.
(7) Turn right, walk past the Town Hall and take the D188, Rue de l’Église. After a few metres, turn left onto Rue de l’Hôtel Dieu, heading towards the Maison de l’Age d’Or. Join route no. 6 and continue along the path, which soon turns right. Go up the steps and turn left onto the D188. After the sign indicating the exit from Chars, take the path on the left and you’ll come to a crossroads of footpaths.
(8) Take this path and head uphill. Then turn right onto the yellow-marked PR® trail and, at the next junction, take a sharp right-hand bend, leave the woods and head for the Veolia pumping station.
(9) Head left, then, when you reach the road, first turn left then right, and follow the GR®11, a path through the fields. You’ll come to a crossroads of paths at the edge of a woodland.
(10) Turn left to enter the woods. Walk through them until you reach a crossroads shaped like an inverted Y.
(11) Take a sharp right-hand bend and continue along the PR®, marked in yellow. Stay on this path, cross a road, then carry on straight ahead to the junction with the D915.
(12) Turn left onto this road, taking great care. At the roundabout , continue straight ahead towards Marines centre and proceed to the next one.
(13) Turn right onto Rue de la Métairie. A little further on, you’ll rejoin the GR®1; turn left to reach the car park on Rue de Goulets (S/E).
