Description of the walk

Start from the car park at Us station (one of the sections of the Transilien Line J, with Gisors as the terminus).

(S/E) With your back to the car park, turn right onto Rue de la Gare.

(1) At the end, turn left, cross the railway line and, at the roundabout, follow Rue Jean Jaurès straight ahead. Go up the ramp on the left to join theGR®1.

(2) Continue along Rue Jean Jaurès, with the church on your right. Turn left into Rue Villeneuve Saint-Martin. At the cross, head down to the right and pass the pumping station.

(3) After the stream, go straight on at the Fork in the road and, at the crossroads, turn right.

(4) First ignore a path on the right, then another marked in yellow on the left. After passing another path, next to the four-lane road, turn right.

(5) At the roundabout, turn left to go under the bridge. Cross the slip road carefully, then take the first left. At the junction, turn right onto Allée du Bois Ribot and follow it to the D169.

(6) Keep going in the same direction along Rue du Général Leclerc until you reach the post office.

(7) Carry on straight ahead. Pass the church on your right, then a wash house on your left. At the end of Rue de la Comté, turn left and walk alongside the playgrounds. Go straight on past the sewage treatment works.

(8) Ignore the path on the left and, further on, a track on the right. Turn left onto Rue du Moulin, then follow the signposted Chemin des Marais on the right.

(9) At the Stop sign, take the path opposite which runs alongside the Aubette on your right. Ignore two turnings on the right leading to two ponds and cross the Aubette.

(10) After the football pitch, leave theGR®1by turning left. Head up Rue du Moulin to the left. At the junction after the church, take Chemin de la Messe straight ahead and, after the cemetery, follow the road to the left.

(11) At the junction, carry on straight ahead. Pass two streets on your right. Walk carefully uphill along the road until you reach the cross.

(12) Leave the road by taking the first path on the left. Pass a path branching off to the right, then walk along the left-hand side of the copses.

(13) Cross the road to follow a path opposite, running alongside a fence, and stay on the edge of the woodland.

(14) At the end, head down to the left. Pass the footpath after the cemetery, then the dead-end road on the right. At the end of Rue Marie, turn left onto the 100-metre stretch you’ve already walked on the way there. After the post office, take Rue Beaudouin on the right. Pass Rue Vaillant on the right, then Ruelle aux Moines.

(15) Take Chemin du Bourbier on the right. At the top of the hill, first turn right then left and go straight on at the junction.

(16) On the left, carefully go through the tunnel, then climb the steps on the right. Follow the footpath. At the Stop sign, cross at the pedestrian crossing to walk alongside Rue Roland Vasseur. Pass the secondary school and head into the fields.

(17) Take the wide grassy path on the left. Go round the farm on the right. Turn right and carefully follow the D51 for 600 m.

(18) Turn right onto the Chaussée Jules César. Pass the Chaussée Brunehaut, marked in yellow, on your left.

(19) Turn left onto the next path and ignore a path on the right.

(20) At the junction, take the path opposite. At the next junction, do the same. Pass the steps, then first turn right then left. At the junction, continue along Rue de la Chaussée Jules César. Cross the Viosne and then the railway line.

(21) Turn right at the ‘Give Way’ sign. Cross the D66 at the pedestrian crossing to reach the left-hand verge. Cross the River Viosne.

(1) Before the railway line, turn left onto Rue de la Gare and continue to the car park (S/E).

A fairly hilly route, with good paths and a bit of road, though there wasn’t much traffic that day.
The only drawback was the noise from the N14, particularly at the start of the route – perhaps due to the wind blowing in our direction.
The church in Vigny was open and so we were able to visit it.

Hello

I did the route in the opposite direction, using KML tracks on my phone

I find this one quite interesting. Vigny is a good place to stop for a break (water is available at La Folie just south of the square, or at the Café de la Poste). In Sagny, the bakery is closed at midday.

The dangerous sections are:
- between points 17 and 18 along the road after Le Boisy
- the last few hundred metres before point 12

With the J train from Paris arriving at 9.00 am in US and leaving US either at 5.30 pm or 7.15 pm, it fits in perfectly for a good day out

Overall, a very pleasant walk through the rolling countryside of the Vexin. There are a few slightly monotonous sections, particularly between points 4 and 5 and between points 17 and 18.
The few hundred metres along the D51 between Le Boisy and point 18 are rather dangerous, as the road is quite busy with traffic.
