Description of the walk

Park in the Ennery Stadium car park, Chemin d’une Ruelle à l’Autre.

(S/E) Take Chemin d’une Ruelle à l’Autre, keeping the stadium on your right.
At the crossroads, opposite Notre-Dame des Trois Clochers, turn left onto Rue du Moutier.
Walk past the church and cross the Allée du Château. At the crossroads, continue along Rue du Moutier, passing the butcher’s and the chemist’s. Continue straight on along the Route de Pontoise until you reach the next crossroads, just before a large crucifix.

(1) Take the path on the right opposite the Gallic menhir, to the right of the cross. At the solitary tree, at the Y-junction, turn left at 300°. Follow the path and go down into the woods. At the bottom, join a concrete service road.

(2) Follow it to the left until the end, where it joins a road. Take the road on the right for a few metres until you reach the roundabout.

(3) Take the Chemin de l’Hermitage, opposite, on the other side of the roundabout (towards the Leconte company). After a few dozen metres, take the path on the left which climbs into the woods. At the top, you’ll reach the Sente de l’Hermitage. Take it to the right (before the company). At the end, the path turns 90° to the left and joins the end of a street.

(4) Turn left again onto Chemin du Bois Payen, also known as Chemin des Grattes Coqs. Walk alongside the concrete hoardings of the former France Télécom centre (on your right). You’ll reach the Ennery industrial estate at a junction after the tennis courts.

(5) Cross the road (take care) and follow the path opposite. It turns into a track through the woods; follow the white markings. Leave the woods, facing a Veolia site. Turn left onto the small path through the undergrowth. You’ll come out onto the RD927. Cross the road and take the path opposite (Chemin des Cornouillers). At the top, the path leads to a junction with several paths and small roads.

(6) Take thesecond path on the right, via the Vieux Chemin de Pontoise to Labbeville. Pass behind the gardens. Before reaching the end of the path, enjoy the view of Paris and La Défense, and look out for the Eiffel Tower. You’ll arrive at a crossroads with a cross on the central reservation.

(7) Cross the road and continue along the path opposite. Take thefirst path on the left alongside the stadium. At the end, turn right onto the Chemin d’une Ruelle à l’Autre and you’ll find the car park (S/E).

This short walk offers plenty of variety as it takes you through the village (don’t miss Ennery Castle), then through gardens, woods and farmland on the plateau. Between points 6 and 7, there is a breathtaking view of the surrounding countryside; the local council has helpfully placed a lovely information plaque there. I recommend this walk for exploring Ennery and its surroundings, even if you do pass by the shooting range.

Please note that the path on the left (3) before the company isn’t very visible at the moment as it’s completely overgrown.
