Lavilletertre circular loop via Bouconvillier

A varied walk through fields and forests. Discover several ponds, many of which are populated by water birds: herons, moorhens, ducks, geese, coots... The two villages you pass through offer some picturesque streets typical of the French Vexin region, as well as two beautiful churches.

Description of the walk

Park in the church square.

(S/E) Take the main road on the left to Place des Sapins, which is aptly named.

(1) Go down on the left and take the path that heads south-west downhill. It is marked as GR® at the start, but there are no more GR® markings until you reach the end. Follow it straight ahead. Be careful, it is not very well maintained and you will have to climb over fallen trees from time to time. Off a pond, it veers right west to join a wider path.

(2) Go through a large tunnel under the railway line and continue along the path to the D536. Take it to the left and descend to another pond opposite. This pond is known as the "sources de la Viosne" (the Viosne is a river that crosses a large part of the French Vexin region before joining the Oise at Pontoise). Continue along the road, skirting the pond and climbing to the left for about 150 metres.

(3) Turn onto a small road that climbs to the right towards some houses, almost turning your back on the road. Follow it, passing large farmhouses, until you reach a three-way junction.

(4) Take the middle path that heads southwest through the fields and leads to Bouconvillers.

(5) Carefullycross the D915, continue to the church and turn right onto the main street for about 100 metres.

(6) Turn left onto Allée des Tilleuls and continue to the next crossroads. Turn left onto Chemin de la Vigne: there are no vineyards here, just a few houses. Follow this street to the D915.

(7) Cross this departmental road again with caution and continue straight ahead through a small industrial area. Continue along a wide grassy path that follows the road. This path crosses a wooded area and joins the GR®11.

(8) Turn left, walk along a pond on your left and cross a level crossing. Continue through a wooded area for a good while. When you come out of the woods, you will see Lavilletertre on your left.

(9) At the next crossroads, take the path on the left which runs alongside an embankment, following the GR®, enter the village and head left towards the Place de l'Église (S/E).

Wonderful discoveries in both villages, including visits to churches that are open to the public, which is increasingly rare.
One comment: at the three-way junction, a post with a yellow mark would be very useful.
