A family hike through the forest, starting from the beautiful village of Ascain and ending at the Col de Saint-Ignace, a place famous for cyclists, but also because it is the starting point of the little rack railway that takes you up to La Rhune. This pass is very busy in summer.

It is a short, family-friendly walk, with no difficulty at all. The Untxin is a small river that flows into the bay of Saint-Jean-de-Luz and Ciboure. With a bit of luck, you may spot fish and birds in the mudflats (ducks, seagulls, snipes, egrets, etc.)

Hike to one of the closest peaks to Alicante, crossing desert areas and ultimately rewarded with a 360° view of Alicante and all the peaks surrounding the city.

A beautiful hike, starting in the heart of the forest and heading towards one of the region’s most iconic peaks, taking in cromlech sites along the way and offering fantastic views of the region’s other peaks, such as Jaizkibel and the Three Crowns.

We start by climbing to the summit of Munagirre (781 m), then follow a path through streams, small waterfalls and a beech forest, discovering the fairly recent ruins of the old Artikutza train, or very old ruins with cromlechs and superb views, either of the coast or of the peaks of the Three Crowns.

An original route to the summit of Larun Txiki (the Little Rhune), allowing you to discover little-known spots in the Rhune massif. However, this is a fairly demanding hike, suitable for experienced or moderate walkers, as there is still a climb of around 700 metres. A lovely walk to discover numerous waterfalls, the most famous of which is Putzubeltz. The path, which often runs through the forest, follows several rivers, and you’re constantly accompanied by the sound of running water. However, part of the route follows a very narrow path along the mountainside, which may be daunting for those with a fear of heights. Furthermore, you’ll have to wade across numerous rivers, which can be difficult after periods of rain.

A very lovely walk in the heart of nature, with only the sounds of wildlife. For almost the entire route, there are impressive views of the surrounding peaks, including Mendaur, the Trois Couronnes, La Rhune, etc.

There are numerous waterfalls around the village of Arantza, though some are difficult to reach. The most famous and easiest to access is the Putzubeltz waterfall. The Arantza local council has also created a lovely, fairly easy path leading to it. You start by walking across meadows, then quickly find yourself in the middle of the forest, with the only sound being the trickling of small streams.

Although the highest point is “only” 180 m above sea level, this is a lovely walk through the countryside, often alongside streams, with a beautiful waterfall to discover.

Karmen – which we French spell Carmen – is indeed the heroine of a short story by Prosper Mérimée, written in 1835, as well as of George Bizet’s famous opera (1875). Carmen was born in Etxalar. The municipality of Etxalar has therefore created a path leading to the house where Karmen lived as a young woman. Along the route, there are six information boards about Karmen’s era, her way of life and the events that took place at that time. This is the route we are suggesting here. It is therefore a walk that combines nature and culture.

This is a hike that is an absolute must, offering a chance to see a natural wonder: two enormous natural arches carved out of soft rock by erosion, which are now part of a protected area. What’s more, it’s an easy hike that’s suitable for the whole family.

This is a two-part hike. First, you’ll walk along the spectacular ridges of Les Moreres. Then, you’ll climb to the summit of El Frare, a superb rocky peak overlooking the valley. This hike is best done in fine weather, as you’ll often be on rocky terrain and must take care not to slip.

A hike around Gurutze with two peaks to climb via forest paths. But it is also a historical hike with traces of very ancient monuments or more recent ones dating from the war.

Proposed by Aspe town council and approved by the FEMECV (Valencian Federation of Mountain and Climbing Sports), this is an easy route, ideal for getting to know part of the Algezares municipal nature reserve.

The Ermita de Nuestra Señora de Los Dolores is situated in an area near Elda, at the crossroads between Monovar and Elda, in an area known as Partida de las Cañadas. Consequently, the Ermita is commonly referred to as the Ermita de las Cañadas. It is located in a former agricultural area, irrigated by rainwater. Even today, it remains an almost desert-like area, and the path leading there, which is not particularly difficult, passes through desert-like terrain, offering a complete change of scenery.

A superb hike with exceptional views of Lake Tibi and impressive peaks to climb. However, it is a difficult hike with some very steep climbs and a path that is quite difficult to follow. A GPS track is essential to avoid getting lost.

This walk takes you past the summit of Urkabe, one of the region’s most iconic peaks. You’ll then follow a superb, though more challenging, ridge path to reach the Peñas d’Arkale, but the effort is rewarded with stunning views and a magnificent finish at Beloaga Castle.

This hike takes you to a large bunker that runs through the mountain and was part of the defensive structures built along the border during Franco's time to prevent a possible invasion from France. But the views of the surrounding landscape are very beautiful.

A hike after passing the Elurretxe Pass through the forest with numerous streams and therefore sometimes muddy paths. During the hike, you will climb several peaks: Belitz, Arburu, Sardinola and Gogortegiko.

This route around Elizalde, which takes you up to a small peak, follows part of a ‘Voie verte’ – a former railway line that ran from Artikutza to Renteria or Arditurri and was mainly used to transport ore. You’ll also be walking a lot on tarmac tracks, but there’s very little traffic.

A round trip hike in the Jaizkibel massif, allowing you to reach the summit of Artola, where there is a sculpture dedicated to the friendship of peoples, the work of sculptor Remigio Mendiburu. It is an easy hike, accessible to all.

Lake Arritzulegi is better known as Lake Mendaur, as it lies at the foot of this peak. It is actually a dam lake. Located at an altitude of 700 m in a very pretty setting, it makes for a beautiful hiking destination. However, I would describe this hike as difficult, partly because of the elevation gain and partly because some of the paths that still appear on maps have disappeared. This means that part of the hike is off-trail and without many landmarks. You therefore need to have a good sense of direction and be used to walking off-trail. This hike is therefore only suitable for experienced walkers.The Visorando app is recommended.

A lovely little hike very close to the town of Irun, but taking place entirely in the woods. In addition to breathing in the fresh air, you will visit a historical site where you can see one of the two towers that remain today, which were used to defend the town of Irun.

Very close to the town of Irun, this route takes you into the heart of nature, where you can breathe in the fresh air far from the traffic. You will climb a small hill, but you will also learn a little history as you discover an ancient tower that was once used to defend the town of Irun.

A pretty loop near the town of Irun to climb to the summit of San Martial, then on to the Ermita de San Martial with its exceptional view over the bay of Txingudi.Please note: due to the presence of numerous hunting posts, this hike should not be attempted during the pigeon hunting season.

This is a beautiful hike starting from the stunning Santuario de Santa Maria Magdanela (a must-see). You then set off in search of the source of a small river and finish with a dip in the thermal baths.

This hike takes you up to one of the peaks in the province of Alicante, which is over 1,000 metres high. While the climb to the summit is not particularly difficult, the start of the hike involves exploring some well-hidden caves. This means passing through areas where there is virtually no path and having a good sense of direction. This hike is therefore not suitable for everyone.

In the Font Roja Natural Park, there is an easy hike to stretch your legs or enjoy with the family (but wear hiking boots), following wide trails through the forest.

A hike in an almost desert environment to climb two peaks: La Mosca and L'Escobella. Don't forget to bring plenty of water, as the entire route is on paths exposed to the sun.
