The starting point for this hike is located in the car park in front of the monastery in Urdax. To get to this starting point by car, see the practical information section.
The proposed hike partly follows a local trail (SL-NA 17), so you will often see white and green markings.
(S/E) From the car park, with the monastery on your right, head towards the bridge to cross the river, then continue straight ahead on the road. A little further along the path, you will come across a private exhibition of antique agricultural objects, a wash house, an original wooden fountain and bunker entrances.
(1) Come out onto the NA-4402 and follow it to the left. Stay on the left-hand side of this road, on the section reserved for pedestrians.
(2) Leave the road by turning right onto a small road. A little further on, take the path on the right, which quickly turns into a dirt track. You will come to a fork.
(3) Take the path on the right to reach the thousand-year-old oak tree. Take the time to admire it.
(4) Then turn onto the path that climbs to the left, towards Axularren Txokoa. The climb is quite steep.
(5) At the junction, continue climbing by taking the path on the left, then the one on the right, heading south, straight ahead, until you reach a tarmac road.
(6) Turn left and climb to the summit of Argangoieta at an altitude of 353 m. It is easily recognisable with its three large antennas, but there is also a large, attractive stone bearing its name and altitude. There is a beautiful view from here.
(7) Turn around and go back to the previous fork.
(6) Continue straight ahead on the road until you reach a crossroads.
(8) Turn left onto the road leading to Maritoneko.
(9) Before the house, turn left towards Urdazubi (the Basque name for Urdax). Follow a very pretty little path, at times very close to a river (Mitxelen Bordako), to reach the village of Urdax and the car park (S/E).
