Freistett alluvial forest
Short hike through one of the remaining areas of alluvial forest in the Rhine plain. Numerous ponds and abundant wildlife.

The Rossmoerder biological reserve in Offendorf offers a beautiful diversity of vegetation, including wild clematis climbing in the trees, black poplars, reed beds, and the backwaters of the Rhine populated by swans, herons, egrets, nutria, etc.
The heron walk in the Wantzenau forest
Walk in the Wantzenau forest, including a large part of the heron trail. A very pleasant route through fields and forests, but be careful on hot days.
Along the Ill and Waldrhein rivers
In the Wantzenau forest, along the Waldrhein, then along the Ill via the heron trail, you can observe herons, egrets, swans, ducks and wild geese at your leisure.
Dreikirschenweg-kleine runde in Achern
A circular route starting from Achern station, known and signposted as the ‘Dreikirschenweg – Kleine Runde’ (a short 14 km route, with a longer alternative, the 18 km ‘Grosse Runde’), is one of the great classics. Special feature: a route with almost no elevation gain, about half of which is on tarmac. It passes partly through the town of Achern, its suburb of Oberachern, and the village of Mösbach.
Suitable for a wide audience, this route presents no technical difficulties and is ideal for occasional walkers, cyclists and families alike. Throughout the route, you can enjoy a varied landscape alternating between urban areas, orchards, vineyards and the open countryside typical of the Black Forest foothills. It also offers several interesting views of the surrounding hills and, on a clear day, of the Rhine plain towards Alsace. Benches and rest areas are dotted along the route, providing pleasant spots to take a break.
Circular path along the banks of the Basse-Zorn
A charming circular walk in the heart of the Basse-Zorn valley, a stone’s throw from Hoerdt, the famous Alsatian capital of asparagus. This peaceful walk takes you through a bucolic and romantic setting, following the water’s course along shaded paths and country lanes. Passing through three typically Alsatian villages with authentic heritage, the route offers a blend of tranquillity and discovery, with no major difficulty thanks to its gentle gradient.
The route takes in Bietlenheim, Geudertheim and Weyersheim, following the peaceful banks of the Zorn. Throughout the walk, you’ll discover Catholic and Protestant churches, old bathing spots, historic mills, wash houses and the picturesque atmosphere of these villages. A getaway combining nature and heritage.
From Obermatten to a path along the Rotbaechel
A pleasant walk combining the countryside east of Bischwiller and a pretty path along the Rotbaechel. This route allows you to discover various curiosities such as the boiler of an old steam engine and a wash house on the Rotbaechel.
Circular Bischeim via the Ballastière lake
Semi-urban walk along the Ill, between allotments, forests and former gravel pits.
The Ill and the Schiltigheim ponds
A delightful walk on the outskirts of the city, allowing you to explore the banks of the Ill and the ponds that lend a wild, natural feel to this urban area. You’ll spot plenty of birds (small passerines, geese and seagulls) as well as signs of beavers.
An easy walk to enjoy in any season, though undoubtedly more pleasant in summer and in dry weather (paths can get muddy in places).
You can get there and back on the E tram from the city centre.
Circular route from Kehl to Offenburg
A lovely ride through the beautiful villages along the Rhine between Kehl and Offenburg. The route follows cycle paths separated from traffic for almost the entire journey and is very well signposted throughout.

Beautiful hike along the Moder from Kaltenhouse to Haguenau, with a tour of the town centre of Haguenau. Very pleasant in spring.

A very beautiful walk around Nesselried, alternating between vineyards and woodland.
Cycling on both sides of the Rhine from Strasbourg
A beautiful bike ride of nearly 30 km starting from the Stade de la Meinau in Strasbourg. It will take you through the Neuhof forest, up along the Canal d'Alsace on the French side, then back along the German bank, following the Old Rhine to the Jardin des Deux Rives, which straddles the Rhine and the border between Strasbourg and Kehl.
The route favours cycle paths and trails that are closed to vehicles.
