(S/E) In front of St. Sebastian's Church, head west to the Renchtalstraße/Nesselrieder intersection. Turn left onto this street. After the Kronguthalle and Krongutschule, continue to the next intersection and follow the street that branches off to the left.
(1) Just before the playground, turn right onto Landwirtschaftsweg towards Weilerwald. The hike leads to the next crossroads in the forest.
(2) Make the first turn right then left and cross the Weilerwald and Rappenloch. The path then climbs to the first panoramic view of the Rhine plain.
(3) Continue left uphill towards the Fuchslochhütte for the next viewpoint. After the hut, follow the forest path and turn left towards Rohrbacher Eck. At this intersection, there is a refreshment stand on the right that invites you to linger. The path continues via the Fichtenbuckel. Then turn left and continue through the vineyard to the next viewpoint, the Hecker-Rebe. The route now runs along the vineyard towards the Münsterblick.
(4) When you reach the road, keep to the right, pass the Weinbergstraße on the left and then, at the stone cross "Reschekreuz", follow the direction of Schiehald with a view of Nußbach.
After this viewpoint, follow the hiking trail to the left, descending towards Weinbergstraße, which you should follow to the right. After a short descent to a bench on the right-hand side, the hiking trail continues straight ahead for about 80 metres on a dirt track and leads to a bend.
(5) At this point, you can make a round trip to the "Winzerstube" in Herztal for a bite to eat or a drink. Otherwise, take the path on the right which leads through the forest to the Saint Wendelin Chapel.
(6) After the chapel, turn left onto Kindergartenstrasse and, after about 200 metres, turn left again onto an unpaved vineyard path. This section leads to the Trottberg with a 360° view of Oberkirch and the Rhine plain. The descent continues to the Judas Thaddäus Kapelle chapel, then to the next viewpoint, "Hohwacht". Continue along the path.
(7) After the short descent, turn left to reach the Rebberg through a small forest.
(8) Follow thesecond path on the left, which leads to the Herztaler viewpoint. From the viewpoint, climb to the right through the vineyard towards Neuberg. Once you reach the tarmac road, follow the signs to the "Im Strubach" viewpoint. From this viewpoint, you can admire the church in Nußbach and Strasbourg Cathedral side by side.
(9) Below, the path continues to the right and, after about 100 m, turn right again downhill towards the Weierhof. This section of the trail runs alongside the Weierhof, then turns left below the buildings onto a dirt track. Then keep right on the access road to the property.
(10) At the next junction, turn left onto the "Obstlerpfad" (fruit trail) and follow it.
(11) At the end of the path, after a memorial cross, the path leads right onto Herztalstraße. The route then continues along Strasseneinfacht Brestenberg, turning right onto Lussweg. This part of the route descends to Renchtalstraße, which you follow to the left to return to St. Sebastian's Church (S/E).
) and even lots of fruit trees for dessert! Wonderful to do in summer, but as I said: beware of the sun, there are many passages in unshaded areas, so be sure to cover up.
