Through the Olhain National Forest around Fresnicourt-le-Dolmen
Walk in the Fresnicourt le Dolmen area
Starting from Olhain Castle and heading towards the "Table aux Fées" dolmen, you will pass two sandstone crosses dating from the 13th and 16th centuries, then the hamlet of Verdrel and the Olhain State Forest with its leisure centre, before returning through the forest. Superb views over the plain and its villages.
It is best to do this walk in dry weather as the paths can be difficult in wet conditions.
Brette and Lawe
Hike, without major difficulty, through woodland and countryside.
Trail along the little paths of Houdain via Mont de la Comté
Admittedly, the trail may seem a little monotonous, but what a beautiful path! It takes you gently up to the heights before dropping back down into the valley to climb Mont de la Comté.And at the end of the trail, the church awaits you.
Circular walk through the woods of Parc d'Olhain from Verdrel.
A superb little walk to do in good weather. Ideal in hot weather, this walk offers both the comfort of the forest and beautiful views, as most of the path to Parc d'Olhain runs along the edge of the forest. Views and coolness, what a joy.
The Caucourt Ford
A short route, on paths that are more or less paved, pleasant in all seasons (except during very wet periods) with a passage at the Gué de Caucourt.
1- Hermin Town Hall advises against using the path between points (11) and (12) until the end of 2025. It is now April 2026 and nothing has changed: no works are underway and there are barriers on both sides. I have just walked along it and it is perfectly passable, though still treacherous.
Around Olhain
A long route with significant elevation gain and some fairly difficult paths. The path between (3) and (4) is very difficult but can be avoided. It was passable in late September 2025 (dry season). There are a few road crossings, but with very little traffic.

La Lawe in Bruay-la-Bruissière
This walk will take you on a tour of Bruay-la-Buissière, starting from Parc de la Lawe and passing by the Miners' Memorial and the Corons.
This young commune owes its name to the merger of Bruay-en-Artois and La Buissière, which took place in 1987.
The upper reaches of Coupigny
At the start, a short walk around the ponds is a must. The walk then descends towards Hersin, passing the town hall and its green walls. You then need to cross the park before reaching the Coron Béclet. After that, head back up towards the ponds. The route follows paths and a short stretch of tarmac.
La Buissière - Ourton loop following the Biette, then the Lawe
This is a long walk in an urban area, but 90% of it is on paths. Start at the old bridge and its steps, then follow the Biette (a beautiful footbridge restored last year) to Ourton. Next, climb back up (unfortunately on the road) before descending to Beugin. Follow another bridge to the Divion Viaduct. There, a slightly tricky descent takes you back to the banks of the Lawe. Follow it first on the left bank, then on the right bank before following the bus route. And to finish in style, the Bois de la Volville, with a nice climb at the end.
Between woods and mining riders in Bruay-la-Buissière
This circular hike offers a superb hike that combines mining history, nature and redevelopment. You will take an old mining railway line (a former railway line used to transport coal) that crosses the Bois des Dames to take you to the Chartreuse des Dames in Gosnay.
Circular Alouettes loop starting from Servins
The ideal time to visit this variant of Les Alouettes, with its beautiful vegetable gardens, magnificent hydrangea beds and a farmyard with a majestic and somewhat pretentious royal turkey.
Le Bois de Mont
A very green route in the Artois hills, with two beautiful climbs and a minimum of roads.
This route, which is already difficult, becomes very difficult in wet weather. I walked it on 25/02/2026 and some of the paths were barely passable.

A short country walk in the middle of the Béthune-Nœux-Bruay conurbation.
