Chès Noirs Monts à m’mote

Park at Place de l’Église in Ruitz.

(S/E) With your back to the church, set off to the right. At the Fork in the road, turn right and, 100 metres further on, turn left into Rue des Chênes. You’ll come to a Fork in the road.
Turn right. After a few houses, the road becomes a track. Look out for the path branching off to the right.

(1) Take this path. It’s a lovely path that runs alongside the Château Park, climbs gently towards Maisnil and eventually turns right to join a road (Rue du Bois).
Follow it to the right. Ignore the first street on the left and carry on until you reach a second one (small car park).

(2) Turn left and you’ll soon come across a lovely little lane between the houses. Cross two streets before reaching Rue des Meunières. Carry on and, 300 metres further on, pass Rue Nouvelle, which joins from the left. 50 metres after that, look out for the path branching off to the right.

(3) Follow it. Turn right, then left to reach the D72, Rue de Ruitz. Follow it to the left. After 100 m, turn right onto a wide farm track. Follow it towards Les Noirs Monts to reach a bridge over the D941.

(4) Just before the bridge, turn right. A gentle descent leads to a Fork in the road. Take the left-hand fork and continue alongside the D941. It’s a very good path which becomes a little wilder towards the end.
You’ll arrive near a village hall. Cross the car park diagonally, keeping to the right, to join the D86E4. Follow it to the right. Head towards a roundabout. Just before it, you’ll find a large (formerly) white house on the left, which is in very poor condition.

(5) Take the grassy path on the left, just before the house. At the end, turn right (narrow passage) and follow the wall to reach Rue de Béthune. Cross the road and head straight ahead to reach a roundabout. Turn left into Rue de l’Hôpital. After 100 m, you’ll find the entrance to the “City Stade” on the right

(6). Walk through it. Please note that the gate leading onto the street is often closed, but there is another entrance on the right-hand side.
Head towards Rue des Chênes and turn right to reach Place de l’Église (S/E).

A short walk along good paths. It’s still a good idea to wear sturdy footwear.
