Park in the square near the church in Gauchin-Légal.
(S/E) With your back to the Chaussée Brunehaut (D 341), head left to reach Rue Bocquet. Follow it to the right, then turn left onto Chemin d’Héripré. Cross the Ruisseau de Caucourt and reach a T-junction (castle on the right). Take the street on the left, then immediately turn right onto Rue Petite (but be prepared: it’s a bit of a climb). You’ll reach a T-junction.
(1) Turn right onto the small road and continue for 1 km.
(2) At the three-way junction, take the hairpin bend to the right to reach the Gué de Caucourt and its beautiful mill. Cross over and continue along the small road. Ignore thefirst street on the right (Rue du Parc), and take thesecond (Rue Guédin, just before the church) to join the D 73.
(3) Take the D 73 on the left for 300 m and carry on straight ahead into Rue de Magnicourt. The tarmac ends: follow a very pretty arched path to a T-junction.
(4) Take the track on the left, then immediately the path leading uphill to the right. A very beautiful path, but one that can be difficult in wet weather (April 2026; it is now in very good condition and the deep ruts have disappeared). A good kilometre further on, you’ll find a rustic staircase and a hiking signpost on the right.
(5) Take the path opposite, if it is passable (it was not at the end of July 2026). See practical information. You’ll reach a junction.
(6) Take the path on the right. 500 metres further on, you’ll come to a Fork in the road.
(7) Follow the path on the left for about 500 metres until you come to a hedge.
(8) Then turn onto the path on the right and join a wide track between two wind turbines.
(9) Turn left and you’ll reach a Fork in the road.
(10) Take the road on the left to join the D 72.
(11) Follow it carefully for 150 m to the right, then turn right onto the grassy and very treacherous path to reach a crossroads.
(12) Head left and turn immediately right, staying on the path (for which waterproof shoes are highly recommended!). See practical information. At the first houses in Hermin, turn right to join Rue Basse.
(13) Follow it to the left (there’s a lovely pond on the left) until you reach a T-junction.
(14) Turn right onto the GR®127, which will take you back to Gauchin. Shortly after the wayside cross, take the tarmac path leading uphill to the left and you’ll reach the D 3. Follow it to the left towards the church S/E).
