Description of the walk

Departure from Place des Martyrs.

(S/E) Exit the car park and turn right onto Rue Roger Salengro until you reach the first junction with Rue du Château.

(1) Turn right and continue to the right, along the Brette, then turn left and, further on, right to cross the river and continue straight ahead until you reach a path.

(2) Go straight ahead, slightly to the right, until you reach the next junction.

(3) Take the track on the right and continue straight ahead until you reach the next crossroads.

(4) Turn right, then take the first path on the left. At the end, go down to the right until you reach a four-way junction with Rue du Moulin.

(5) Go straight ahead into this street and continue past the mill, then take the main street on the right until you reach a grassy path.

(6) Follow it to the right, then at the end, take Rue Jules Elby on the left, and at the crossroads, take the path slightly to the left. At the end, walk along the house on the right until you reach a crossroads.

(7) Continue to the left. At the end of the path, go straight ahead and pass under the bridge.

(8) Immediately afterwards, take the steep dirt track on the right to reach the bridge on the left, until you reach a fork.

(9) Take the path on the right and, a little further on, the one on the left. Go through the gate and follow the Lawe to the end.

(10) Turn left, then, after passing through the gate, turn right onto the bridle path and continue straight on until you reach Rue du Mont Durand.

(11) Go straight ahead onto Sentier du Vieux Fort. Do the same at the next street, then pass an intersection to reach the children's playground.

(12) Turn right, pass between the children's playground, and turn left to join Rue de la Gare, which you should follow to its terminus.

(13) Take the D341 on the right and continue until you reach a path on the right, after Lawe.

(14) Turn right onto the path and cross La Brette, then turn left. Cross the car park and continue straight ahead until you reach an intersection.

(15) Turn left to reach Place des Martyrs (S/E).

Worth a visit

Waterfall and mill at La Comté et Cavalier (old road used for transporting coal).

Alternative route: at point (11), take Rue de la Place on the right, then continue left onto Rue du Calvaire and left again until you reach the D86. Cross it and take the path diagonally to the left, north-east. Continue straight ahead, at the end make the first turn right then left and take Rue du Jeu de Paume. At the end, at thefirst road junction, leave Rue des Écoles on your left and Rue d'Amiens on your right. Atthe second road junction immediately following, turn left onto Rue de la Geharie, then turn into the third left, Rue du Sac, and return to the point (15).
