Parking near the church and town hall in Houchin.
(S/E) Leave the town hall on your right and turn into the first street on the left to join the D 72 at the traffic lights.
(1) Take Rue des Fontinettes (very well maintained!) opposite. At the end of the street, continue straight ahead on the path along the edge of the field. It turns right then left to reach a T-junction.
(2) Take the wide path opposite and continue to a crossroads. Continue straight ahead on the path along the edge of the woods. Join a wide path and follow it straight ahead for 200 metres to reach another crossroads (flood zone on the right)...................................................
(3) Turn left onto a wide farm track which turns left, then right and reaches a T-junction. Turn left onto theGR® then pass in front of the British cemetery and reach the junction with the D 72.
(4) Turn left onto theGR® trail, on the tarmac. After 300 m, turn left, then immediately right onto a beautiful grassy path. Follow it for about 400 m before turning right to reach Rue du Jeu de Paume.
(5) Cross this street and follow theGR® opposite. At the T-junction, turn right and take a path to Rue de Ruitz. Follow it downhill to the left and join the D 72 at the calvary.
(6) Follow it for 50 metres on the left (offthe GR®) then turn right into the pretty little lane that joins Rue de l'Égalité. Follow it on the left (you will rejoin theGR®). At the cemetery, continue straight ahead on the path, then turn right to reach a crossroads (ruins on the right).
(7) Turn left. At the crossroads (isolated house on the right), continue straight ahead (offthe GR®). Then head straight towards Nœux-les-Mines (clearly visible slag heaps). Pass under the power line, ignore a path leading off to the right and reach an inverted Y-shaped crossroads.
(8) Turn left. The wide path becomes a beautiful trail before reaching a crossroads.
(9) Continue straight ahead and head towards Houchin church, where you will find the starting point (S/E).
