A circular walk to visit the villages in the north of the Saintois region: Voinémont, Benney and Lemainville, passing through the Benney forest, the plain between Benney and Lemainville and following the Madon river on the return journey.
Along the Madon between Lemainville and Voinémont
A pleasant walk which, in its first section, offers sweeping views of the surrounding countryside as you head towards Voinémont and, on the return journey, winds its way along the many bends of the Madon with magnificent colours, varying with the seasons, and made even more sublime by the autumn sun.

A hilly circuit where you can enjoy the Saintois countryside and the nearby Madon, with breathtaking views of the Château d'Haroué (9) and the hill of Sion.
Around Richardménil through the woods and along the canals
A getaway from the centre of Richardménil to its neighbouring towns: Méréville, Messein, Ludres and Fléville. This almost triangular route follows or runs alongside the old freight routes: the Canal de l'Est, now the Canal des Vosges, the Canal de Jonction and the old railway lines serving the Ludres-Fléville industrial zone. If you cross this industrial zone during the week, you will understand why barges and trains no longer run in the area...

Pleasant walk along the canal on the way there and back around the ponds.
A short walk between Bainville-sur-Madon and Xeuilley
A circular walk starting from Bainville-sur-Madon, through the meadows alongside the River Madon to reach Xeuilley, then along a small road to join the D974 and up the hillside to admire the view over Xeuilley.
On the hillsides between Bainville and Viterne. Back to the lowlands and Maizières
Starting from Bainville-sur-Madon, head up the hillside, passing through the Bois Fossé and the Viterne quarry; take a detour via the orientation table to see the impressive quarry.
Head down towards Viterne through the woods, passing through the village with its fountain, washhouse and church.
Return across the plain, passing through the village of Maizières with its wash house, church and Stations of the Cross.
Burthecourt - Azelot - Manoncourt
On the lands of Charles-Nicolas-Sigisbert Sonnini de Manoncourt,
french naturalist, born on1 February 1751 in Lunéville and died on 9 May 1812 in Paris.
The Brénon Valley
From the valley floor, right by the Brénon, up to the top of the plateau where the view opens out onto a distant horizon, this peaceful walk offers a wide variety of landscapes.
Boucles de la Moselle: between Messein and Neuves-Maisons
Start from Messein and return via the village of Méréville. A circular route with easy conditions, mostly on cycle paths.
From Ludres to Chavigny via the Bois de la Grande Fraize
To complete the triptych covering the Ludres plateau (see also Ludres-Houdemont and Ludres-Messein), this circular route mainly covers the commune of Chavigny and takes in the three highlights of the plateau: Camp Leuque, traces of mining activity and a beautiful view of the Vosges mountains.
Moselle circulars: between Neuves-Maisons and Maron
Start between the canal and the Moselle, then follow the right bank to the Maron. Return along the left bank via Sexey-aux-Forges and Pont-Saint-Vincent. Discover how iron ore was transported from the old mines at Sexey-aux-Forges.
Route of hot springs in Xirocourt
This route takes us to the large Arpontois Oak via a pretty path in the Bois d'Arpontois, climbs above the Blanches Côtes to take us to Bralleville via the plateau with magnificent views of the Vau farm and the Saintois. From Bralleville to Xirocourt, the return journey is via a path between fields and the river.

Circuit de Ludres par Messein
Circular starting from Ludres, crossing the old village, with panoramic views of the Moselle valley above Messein and crossing the Cité d'Affrique (Camp Leuque). A gentle section on the plateau but also some steep passages. Route designed to accumulate elevation gain (well suited to Nordic walking) but with possible detours.

Entrainement montagne ou trail autour du plateau de Ludres
A very varied route for those who enjoy long hikes or training in the mountains or on trails. Hikers will appreciate the views, while trail runners will enjoy the alternation between flat sections and steep slopes. The route is designed to achieve a relatively high elevation gain/length ratio for this region. There are numerous shortcuts available if needed.Updated in December 2025.
Long walk around Sion Hill
From Praye, head to the Maurice Barrès monument via the Bois de Plaimont. Visit the village of Vaudémont.
Return via the plain, passing beneath the hill and the village of Chaouilley. Return to Praye via the path halfway up the hillside, passing beneath the statue of the Virgin Mary.
Route of the four woods
Many fruit trees to see along the way. Departure from Coyviller, then visit Manoncourt-en-Vermois, the Charles Sonnoni memorial and return to Coyviller.
Greater Nancy, between Coyviller and Rosières-aux-Salines
Part of the Tour du Grand Nancy route, a circular stage between Coyviller and Rosières-aux-Salines.
A walk mainly along gravel tracks, except in the Bois de la Blanche Croix.
Setting off from the village of Coyviller along a lovely track, the route arrives above Rosières-aux-Salines with a view of the salt pans, then descends into the village to visit these three monuments: the church, the fountain and the fortified tower.
Climb back up onto the plateau to reach the Bois de la Blanche Croix, where you’ll find a blockhouse with its shelter and trenches – a remnant of the First World War – offering a stunning view over the Meurthe valley.
Return via tracks and a short stretch of road to reach the two ponds at Coyviller.
Through fields and woods in Manoncourt-en-Vermois
A lovely little walk through fields and a small patch of woodland with a view of Nancy in the distance, not to mention the view of the orchards at Coyviller.

Along small roads and country lanes across the plain to the west of Sion Hill, visiting the villages of Eulmont, Dommarie, Thorey Lyautey and Étreval, before returning to Chaouilley.
