Through fields and woods in Manoncourt-en-Vermois

A lovely little walk through fields and a small patch of woodland with a view of Nancy in the distance, not to mention the view of the orchards at Coyviller.

Description of the walk

Park on Rue de Sonnini: there is plenty of space to park easily at the start of the street.

(S/E) Head towards the end of the street and continue along the path with an unobstructed view.

(1) Turn right uphill and carry on straight ahead.

(2) Turn left and continue along the path, which curves to the right further on and begins to descend steeply. Pass in front of the shed, cross the small road linking Coyviller to Saint-Nicolas and take the path opposite.

(3) After the bridge over the stream, take the first path on the right until you reach the edge of the woods. Then turn left to enter the woods and follow the winding path which joins the GRP® Tour de Nancy: marked with yellow and red signs.

(4) Turn right and follow this path straight on until you reach the D1A (Grande Rue) in Coyviller.

(5) Turn left: be careful, as this street can be busy. Then turn right into the first street, Rue de Manoncourt, keeping to the GRP® markings. Pass the town hall on your right and cross the Petit Rhône, which is little more than a stream at this point.

(6) Immediately afterwards, turn right, continuing to follow the GRP® signs, until you reach Manoncourt-en-Vermois. At the main road, turn right to rejoin Rue de Sonnini and the car park (S/E).

An easy and pleasant walk. We ran into a bit of a problem between point 2 and point 3. We couldn’t find the path that branched off to the right towards point 3. We carried on straight ahead and ended up on the D1A road north of Padoue Farm. We followed it down to the junction with the GPX track and made our way back to point A to continue along the track. This added 2 km to the planned route.

A lovely walk through fields and woods. It’s very easy to find your way. The section through the woods can quickly become muddy. Best avoided when it’s raining.

When we arrived in Rue de Sonini, we were disappointed because there were no signposts on the paper maps, except on the signs next to the fields. The instructions aren’t very clear.

A lovely walk in the sunshine; the section through the woods at point 3, before joining the GRP, is a bit tricky and requires the use of the GPS on the app, as the path is somewhat eroded and unmarked.
