South-east of Saintois

Park in the car park opposite the chapel, Place de la Fontaine in Lemainville.

(S/E) Walk to the right of the chapel. Head towards the Ruisseau de l’Embanie.

(1) Cross it and take the road leading to Ormes-et-Ville. Walk through the village, past the church, until you reach a T-junction at the village exit.

(2) Turn left, then right, and you’ll come to a three-way junction in a bend.

(3) Leave the road and turn right. Pass under the high-voltage power line before entering a wood. Cross a track and the D9 (with care) and continue straight ahead to reach Vaudeville.

(4) When you reach a small road, turn right and cross the village. At the D67, continue straight on, pass to the right of the water tower and find a path at a right angle.

(5) Turn right along a fence and join the D67.

(6) Turn left onto it and enter Haroué at the junction with the D9.

(7) Turn left onto it.

(8) Pass in front of the castle then cross the Madon stream. After the bridge, leave the D9 to continue straight ahead and reach Affracourt. Cross the village.

(9) On leaving the village, at a bend, take the small road on the right. You will come to another Y-junction.

(10) Continue along the small road to the right towards Tantonville. Pass in front of the Château des Tourtel then rejoin the D9 once more.

(11) Go straight ahead. You’ll reach the junction with the D913 and a small road.
Turn right onto this small road, which turns into a track. Reach the junction with the D65a before the hamlet of Xavoy.

(12) Turn left towards Haplemont and cross the village.

(13) At the top of the village, between two houses, turn right, then left and right. Reach the entrance to the village of Gerbécourt.

(14) Pass to the left of the church, then turn right and cross the village.
At the bottom of the village, turn left to quickly reach a farm building.

(15) Take the path in the centre, veering to the right, go past the building on the left and follow the path up to the top of the hill.

(16) Turn right along the edge of the forest; the path is there (not marked on the map).

(17) At the end of the field, continue to the right.

(18) Cross the Madon bridge and head to the car park at Lemainville (S/E).

Lemainville: the chapel and the fountain.
Ormes sur Ville: the church and the lintels.
Vaudeville: the church.
Haroué: Craon Castle and the church.
Affracourt: the church.
Tantonville: Château des Tourtel, a giant trumpet, another castle.
Haplemont: the church.
