Col des Perches route

A magnificent hike in good weather, starting on wide paths before moving onto slightly more winding mountain trails. The forest is superb, as are the stubble fields of Rouge Gazon.
In the Mollau forest
A refreshing walk (lots of shade) with mostly gentle slopes in the middle of a beautiful forest. The starting point is Place des Tilleuls, which is also an ideal spot for a picnic.The uphill section has some steep parts, but they are not long. The descent is very gentle. Beautiful views of the forest, the hills, the valleys and the streams.In short, a very pleasant walk.
Le Drumont from the See peat bog
The Drumont is one of the iconic peaks of the Vosges. Although much less well known than the Grand Ballon or the Ballon d'Alsace, it is an ideal spot for lovers of 360° panoramic views. The area is very popular with paragliders. This hike takes you up the Drumont from the Tourbière du See, which is home to a rich natural heritage. The outward journey follows the most direct route and the return journey takes you via the waterfalls and the Saint-Nicolas Chapel. To finish the hike, there are two small hills to climb, which offer views of the Thur valley.

Sternsee, Neuweiher lakes, Col des Charbonniers from Rouge Gazon

This is a beautiful, fairly challenging route that will take you to Sternsee (Perch Lake), the Neuweiher lakes through the forest and stubble fields, then to the Col des Charbonniers before returning to Rouge-Gazon. You will be able to admire the view of the Alsace plain and the Alps on several occasions when the weather is fine.

Around the Lac des Perches

This walk takes you to the Lac des Perches ; a lake that nestles at the bottom of a very steep-sided cirque. Then the path leads you on to a stubble field where there is a very beautiful view over the valley of the Doller and even of the Alps when the sky is clear.

Lacs des Perches and Neuweiher via Haute Beers and Gresson in Rimbach
A pleasant, undulating hike between the lakes of the Vosges, offering magnificent views, high-altitude thatched roofs and open, varied landscapes. Starting from Rimbach near Masevaux, head towards Basse Bers, then Lac des Perches, climb up to the pass of the same name, followed by the GR®5 trail overlooking the lake, towards Haute Beers (shelter). Gentle descent via the Seppiweg to the Neuweiher lakes, then climb towards Gresson (farmhouse inn). Descent to Ermensbach via the magnificent log cabin shelter of Lagerwald Hutte, then along the hillside to the church in Rimbach.
Circuit of the Perches, Grand and Petit Neuweiher lakes

This short hike offers breathtaking views of the Col des Perches and the lake of the same name, Sternsee. A bench and a small table above the scree overlooking the lake are ideal for a snack break while admiring the landscape.
At the Grand Neuweiher lake, stop at the refuge inn to quench your thirst before heading back to Rimbach.
Moderator's note: the Blue Disc trail between (6) and Ermensbach is closed to the public and should not be used as an alternative to the Yellow Horse trail (Steinweg).

This hike offers magnificent views of the Doller Valley and the Ballon d'Alsace on a former volcanic massif.
In the vicinity of Markstein

A circuit mostly on stubble fields. There is little elevation gain, the trails are marked, and there are two farm inns and a restaurant along the way. There are beautiful views from the stubble fields. Many activities other than hiking: summer tobogganing, hang gliding, meals at farm inns, skiing in winter.
The Lakes of Neuweiher and Gresson

In the Doller valley, this walk will let you discover the lakes of Neuweiher and some of the most beautiful landscapes in the Vosges. It's an easy walk and accessible to anyone.
From Kruth to Schafert
A beautiful hike in the rear valley of the Thur, near Lake Kruth-Wildenstein, which will take you to the heights of Kruth, with beautiful views of the upper valley and the Rossberg-Thannerhubel massif.
Around Le Markstein

A walk around Markstein on a typical Vosges ridge.
This route has all the ingredients for a great hike in the Vosges mountains, including panoramic views of the peaks and valleys, well-marked trails laid out by the Club Vosgien, including over thatch, and visits to a number of farm inns.

The Grand Ballon from the Markstein

A beautiful hike, done in January. You'll discover the snow-covered ridge road and the ridge trail, which is a pleasure to walk along!
Markstein-Lac de la Lauch-Col d'Oberlauchen-Col d'Hahnenbrunnen-Trehkopf

The first half of the route, up to (5), is wooded, which is pleasant in hot weather. The second part, however, follows theGR®5in open country. There are no major difficulties, except perhaps the slightly steep climb to the Col d'Oberlauchen.
There are beautiful views during this hike, particularly at the Col d'Oberlauchen, then all along theGR®5and at the summit of the Trehkopft.
Senkel circuit on the heights of Oberbruck

Cross winding paths nestled between the mountains above the picturesque village of Oberbruck. Let yourself be enchanted by the peaceful atmosphere of the dense forest. Beautiful panoramas offer views of the surrounding valley.
Graber circuit via Schlumpf from Dolleren

The Graber discovery trail revives the path that serves the village farms. Walk past the Graber farmhouse inn, overlooking those of Holschlag and Kraitland, and stop off at the small Schlumpf ski resort.

This is a beautiful hike, although quite strenuous, and is reserved for experienced hikers who want to enjoy a great day out, discover the biotope and take in the many views.

From Sewen to Lake Alfeld

A peaceful hike that will take you to Sewen Lake and its peat bogs, then to Alfeld Lake, which is very different with its dam. The path is flat until you reach the foot of the dam, then climbs a little.
Discover five lakes near the Ballon d'Alsace

This is a beautiful hike offering views of and above the lakes. You will feel cool as most of the hike takes place in the forest (open areas: downstream from the Baerenbach farmhouse inn, the same for the Gresson moyen and the Haute Bers).
From Sewen to the Morteville rocks via the balloon

Discover the Roches de Morteville, Sewen and Alfeld lakes, the large stone, the statue of Joan of Arc and the waterfalls.
Hike on the verge of (very) difficult. GPX track strongly recommended.

A detour has been put in place (Blue Triangle and Yellow-White-Yellow Rectangle at the end). This extends the route by 15 to 20 minutes and adds 100 m of elevation gain.

On the heights of Lake Kruth

This short family hike takes you up to the ruins of Wildenstein Castle along a discovery trail dotted with information panels. On the way back down, you can walk around the lake and, once you arrive, enjoy the peaceful surroundings with a trip on a pedalo or, for the more energetic, a walk among the trees in the tree-top adventure park right next to the car park.
Chaumes and forests of the Rossberg massif

The protected Rossberg massif boasts some of the most beautiful pastoral pastures in the Vosges mountains. They were once home to numerous marcairies(1), of which several farmhouse inns(2) remain today. With their magnificent views of the neighbouring valleys, the southern Alsace plain, the Jura, the Black Forest and the Alps, they are sure to delight hikers.
Lac de la Lauch - Refuge Edelweiss

This is a varied route, as it winds through the forest and the Vosges hills, offering magnificent views of the valleys and surrounding ridges at every turn. The Lac de la Lauch, whose dam dates back to 1894, is as beautiful as ever in its green setting.

On the slopes of the Grand Langenberg

Follow the banks of the Doller and then the Wagenstall waterfalls to reach the peaceful thatched cottages of the narrow Grand Langenberg valley near an authentic farmhouse inn. Descend to the foot of the Ballon d'Alsace towards the impressive glacial basin of Lake Alfeld, which dominates the Doller Valley. Finally, return along the tumultuous Seebach, which calms down in a wet and marshy meadow before dying in the peat bogs of Lake Sewen.
Please note that theGR®531is sometimes obstructed (forestry work, overgrown vegetation, fallen trees, etc.) and maintenance is sometimes delayed. In this case, take the Fennematt path that runs along the left bank of the Doller and rejoin the route at point (1) or point (3).
Around Lake Kruth

More of a Sunday stroll than a real hike, this trail around Lake Kruth-Wildenstein, which is accessible to people with disabilities, will give you a breath of fresh air. It is particularly pleasant in summer when it is very hot in the valley.
Œil de la Sorcière (Witch's Eye) from Bitschwiller

This is a relatively accessible hike, taking you from viewpoint to viewpoint to Engelbourg and the Œil de la Sorcière from Bitschwiller, then gently back up along the river on the cycle path.
Circuit around Lac du Ballon

This is an ideal short walk in hot weather, starting from the Col du Haag and passing successively by Lac du Ballon, the Roedelen farm and the Grand Ballon. As the circuit is located on the northern slope of the Grand Ballon at an altitude of over 1,000 metres, there is no need to worry about excessive heat.

Triebelskopf circuit from Niederbruck

A pleasant circuit between the mid-mountains and the forest, with stubble fields, rivers and farm inns. Accessible to all, the only slight difficulty being the climb above the Entzenbach farm inn. But what a treat when you reach the hill and the Triebelskopf pasture!
Alfeld Lake - Rundkopf - Boedelen - Alfeld Lake

Enjoy the hike! It's not very long, but there's quite a bit of elevation gain. The first part is quite steep, but the trails are pleasant
At the bottom of Florival

With its lake, forests, scree slopes, waterfalls, peat bogs and rushing streams, the bottom of the Florival valley around the Lauch river is home to many wonders.
This is a short hike, but it requires a good level of fitness to tackle some steep slopes and tricky sections.
The summit of the Baerenkopf via Lake Lachtelweiher

This hike passes by the small Lachtelweiher lake, which nestles peacefully at an altitude of 740 metres. The route passes numerous authentic farm inns, alternates between forests and stubble fields, climbs passes and peaks with panoramic views, and ventures close to the source of the Doller.

A beautiful walk that will first take you along wide forest paths before the final climb to Rossberg and its magnificent views.
The Wissgrut stubble fields via the Wagenstall waterfalls

The summit peaks of the Vosges are always a delight for hikers because of the magnificent views they offer. Those of the Wissgrut (or Wisskritt) between the Belfort gap and the Masevaux valley are remarkable. You will reach them via the beautiful Wagenstall waterfalls and continue along the ridge and the upper Fennematt valley, where the Doller river has its source, and its beautiful panoramic trail.
Haut du Riant, Rochelotte, Tête des Champs, Cote 1008

This is a beautiful hike, which can be done in a day, starting from the Ventron-Frére Joseph ski resort. Mostly in the forest, it will allow you to discover the Rochelotte area and the magnificent view from the Tête des Champs. There are three shelters along the route where you can eat and take a break.
Niederbruck via the Bruckenwald farmhouse inn

From Niederbruck to Bruckenwald: go via the trail and return via the path.
Chaumes du Grand Ventron and Chaumes des Vintergés

A very beautiful, shaded hike through a magnificent forest of hundred-year-old beech trees, with views of the Chaume des Vintergés and the Chaume du Grand Ventron viewpoint, overlooking the ridges (Markstein, Grand Ballon and Alsace).
From Masevaux to Niederbruck via forest paths

Between Masevaux and Niederbruck, more than ten kilometres of new forest paths have recently been created. Here is a nice little route of about 6 km that partly follows these new paths...

From Masevaux to Rossberg

This beautiful hike takes you from Masevaux to the summit of Rossberg at an altitude of 1,191 metres. From the top, you can enjoy magnificent views of the Vosges, the Alsace plain, the Black Forest, the Jura and the Alps. The elevation gain is significant, but the route is otherwise easy.
The source of the Doller at the start of the Lachtelweiher

This hike will take you to the Source de la Doller, which, contrary to what you might think, does not originate at the Ballon d'Alsace, but below the Schlumpf. During the hike, you will enjoy beautiful views of the Doller valley and have the opportunity to eat at one of the farmhouse inns along the route.
From Rammersmatt to the Hundsruck Pass
A very accessible circuit starting from the Rammersmatt farm towards Bourbach-le-Haut, passing by the Hochburg chalet. A hike that everyone can follow at their own pace.
