Park in the church square (Place Maréchal Foch).
(S/E) Facing the fountain, take Rue Vogelbach for about 150 metres. Leave the street leading to the cemeteries on your left and turn left at the first junction onto Chemin des Cigognes.
(1) When you reach the fork at the top of the street, continue climbing to the left on Chemin des Cigognes, following the red ring markings. The path runs alongside former pastures that are now reforested. Return to the road and follow it straight ahead for about 200 metres.
(2) Leave the road and turn left onto a path between beech and fir trees. The climb continues, alternating between small trails and wider forest paths. After a bench where you can enjoy the view of the valley, the climb continues to the junction with a forest road.
(3) Turn right for about 50 metres, then turn left onto a narrower path that climbs into the forest. The path arrives at a junction with a path marked with a blue cross. Cross a footbridge and a fountain called "Seppi" and continue along the shared route for a few hundred metres until the next junction.
(4) Continue straight ahead, staying on the path marked with a red ring. After this long climb, there is a bench where you can enjoy a beautiful view. The path joins a forest road that turns right, which you follow for about 100 metres.
(5) At the end of the bend, take a small path that climbs slightly to the left. Ignore the numerous crossroads and continue straight ahead. Further on, the path turns sharply to the right. Follow a forest road to the Saint-Nicolas fountain located next to a bench.
(6) A few metres after the bench, a path climbs up to the left towards the Saint-Nicolas Chapel, which you can take as an alternative route. Otherwise, continue along the forest road to the crossroads and the viewpoint at Mehrbächel, which offers a superb panorama.
(7) Take the path that descends straight ahead, heading south, with the Auberge du Mehrbächel on your right. Cross the access road and continue straight ahead to join a new road further down. This path deviates slightly from the route shown on the IGN map.
(8) Cross just before the bend in the road and continue straight ahead, following the red ring markings.
(9) Be careful at the last fountain: turn right onto the path called "Geishusenweg", which leads to Rue du Schmiedeberg. Turn left and continue to Rue de Fistelhaeuser.
Turn left again and continue straight ahead to the church and Place Maréchal Foch (S/E).
