Parking at Rouge Gazon car park (1089 m), accessible via the D90 from the N66 (Saint-Maurice-sur-Moselle).
Blue rectangle GR®531 trail markers
(S/E) Take the GR®531 trail towards Lac des Perches through the forest and reach Col des Perches and its crossroads of six trails. Beautiful view towards Grand Ballon.
(1) Descend the steep slope towards Lac des Perches and follow its eastern shore to the trail junction.Admire Lac des Perches (985 m) and its glacial cirque. Plenty of picnic spots.
(2) Take the GR® trail towards the Neuweiher lakes. After another rough stretch through the forest, you will reach the peaceful Chaume du Bers (1080 m).
(3) Cross it and descend towards the Neuweiher lakes, following the path on the left at the end of the clearing. The descent is winding with a slightly rough finish. You will arrive at the dyke between the two Neuweiher lakes.
(4) Cross the dam, enjoying the view, then head to the Club Vosgien's Auberge du Neiweiher on the right. There is also a nice shelter nearby.
(5) Return to the GR® and walk a few dozen metres to the right until you reach a crossroads.

(6) Leave the GR®531 and take the path on the right towards Tour du Lac, a new steep trail. Further on, note the statue of Saint Joseph on the left and continue to a footbridge.After a hundred metres or so, you can reach a beautiful viewpoint over the lakes on the right.
(8) Return to the footbridge.

(7) Just after the footbridge, leave the red ring markings and continue to the right, northwards, towards Chaume du Bers on a quiet little path that winds its way up to the chaume in long hairpin bends. About thirty metres before Chaume de Haute Bers, you will come to a crossroads.
No markings
(9) Do not follow the Blue-White-Blue marked trail towards the GR®5. Continue straight ahead on the unmarked trail. After a left-hand bend, keep to the right near the chaume until you reach the pretty Chalet de Haute Bers. Enjoy the view. Continue along the trail for about a hundred metres until you reach the GR®5 trail (Red Rectangle).

(10) Leave the GR®5 trail on your right and continue straight ahead, heading north, following the blue and white rectangular markings. The slope in the forest is steeper, then levels off before reaching a crossroads and a thatched hut.

(11) Take the path furthest to the right, which climbs gently, and stay on the edge of the forest on the ridge of the Rouge Gazon hill. After about 150 metres, you can reach a picturesque rock on the right, which offers a beautiful view. Otherwise, continue straight ahead.
(12) Continue for about 100 metres to reach the highest point, the Tête des Perches (altitude 1,222 m), which offers a remarkable view.Beautiful panorama of Lake Perches and the Doller Valley.
(13) Turn around to return to the blue and white marked trail.

(11) Turn right and descend gently down the grassy slope to the Rouge Gazon car park (S/E).
