Wintzenheim walks

Wintzenheim is a small town situated on the outskirts of Colmar. This route takes you to the main cultural sites, such as Saint-Laurent Church, the synagogue, the Notre-Dame-du-Bon-Secours Chapel and the Wintzenheim Chapel. From some of the narrow streets, you can see nearby peaks such as the Galtz or the Grand Hohnack. As the tour is short, you can combine this walk with a visit to Wettolsheim, a neighbouring village.

This walk offers a chance to take a break and soak up some history and culture. Set in a region renowned for its castles – particularly the Three Castles of Éguisheim – this area is well worth exploring. The entire walk takes place through a beautiful forest. In total, you’ll pass no fewer than six castles along the route. In addition to these, there are rock formations and a fountain. Those who enjoy rock formations will also be in for a treat with the Rocher Turenne, the Roche du Corbeau and the Rocher d’Ehrbergkopf. The GPX track may prove very useful.

Wettolsheim is a small village situated between Eguisheim and Wintzenheim. This walking route takes you through the village streets. The starting point is near the Grotte de Lourdes. The walk ends at Saint-Rémy Church. These are the two main sights to see in the village. As the walk is short, you can combine it with a visit to the town of Wintzenheim.

Viticulture is an integral part of the Alsatian landscape. There is even a route named after it. This route is the third stage of the vineyard trail and links Turckheim to Ribeauvillé. There are numerous vantage points, indeed they are almost everywhere outside the villages. The villages themselves are very traditional, with pretty half-timbered houses, and possess an undeniable charm. The region’s heritage is equally well represented.

This circuit, which mainly follows wine and forest trails, cycle paths and small mountain roads to avoid traffic, is designed for mountain bikes and electric mountain bikes. It allows you to discover some picturesque villages in the foothills, such as Turckheim, Ammerschwihr, Kientzheim, Kaysersberg, Hunawihr and Zellenberg, as well as the green Fréland valley and the steeper, forest-covered slopes of the Brézouard and Kaelblin mountains.

La Galtz is an iconic peak located at the gateway to the Munster Valley. It is easily accessible from Trois-Épis. The climb from Turckheim requires more experience, but is not difficult. Two-thirds of the route is through forest. The return journey, arriving at the gates of Ammerschir, is entirely through vineyards, passing through two villages: Katzenthal and Niedermorschwihr. The area's heritage is also well represented, first in Turckheim, then in the other villages you pass through, as well as at the Christ the Redeemer statue, erected in memory of the First World War. From this statue of Christ at the summit of the Galtz, there is a magnificent view of both the mountains and the plains.

Turckheim is one of the first towns in the Fecht Valley. This walk takes in all the must-see sights in this fortified wine-growing town. From the ramparts to the Colmar Pocket Battles Memorial Museum, the town’s rich history is on display here. The colourful houses are a prominent feature, particularly in the town centre. The route begins with a walk along the ramparts before taking in the historic heart of the town.

A route offering a glimpse of the grand crus of Central Alsace. It follows the scenic trails of the Brand and Sommerberg and allows you to discover the most picturesque villages in the wine-growing region. The return journey partly follows the Piémont cycle path. This route is reserved for mountain bikes, with or without electric assistance.

An ideal walk to start the season, taking you around Colmar and across the Alsace plain to the Rhine. It mainly follows cycle paths or routes, rural roads or quiet roads, with the exception of a few sections where you need to pay attention to traffic.

Walk, mountain bike or electric mountain bike ride in the Stauffen and Petit Ballon mountains. The proposed circuit includes sections on roads, forest paths and cycle paths. There are no major difficulties, except for a short but steep climb after the Col de Marbach, which may require you to dismount, and the steady but also fairly steep climb from Boenlesgrab to Strohberg.

It is particularly recommended in autumn when the vineyards are ablaze with colour

A lovely route passing by the Chapelle des Bois and the Château-Fort du Hagueneck. Beautiful views of the Alsace plain, particularly Colmar, Wettolsheim and the Black Forest, can be enjoyed along the way.

Reach the Obschel via the Rotenbuch and the Bruderhauskapelle.Return via Meierhof, Trois Épis, Hunabuhl and Saint-Wendelin Chapel, before returning to Turckheim, which you can cross and visit like good tourists.A word of advice: check your route using .gpx. Ingersheim is a small town on the outskirts of Colmar. This route allows you to explore the town, which harbours more treasures than meets the eye, particularly in the second half of the circular route. The route passes several historic buildings, some of which are linked to the village’s wine-growing history. As the walk is short, you can combine a visit to this town with a visit to Katzenthal, a neighbouring village.

A short, pleasant family walk, ideal for children, with lovely spots to discover. The River Fecht and its surroundings are both a place to relax and an area rich in biodiversity. Set off on a walk to explore this river which, over time, has helped shape the town’s identity. From mallards to grey herons, not to mention all sorts of fish, you’re sure to spot plenty of little creatures! You might even catch a glimpse of some beavers!

Eguisheim is considered one of the most beautiful villages not only in Alsace, but in France as a whole. Its narrow, winding streets, which meander around the village centre, are one of its most striking features. The houses are very colourful and photogenic: it is a quintessentially Alsatian village. This route takes you along all the streets circling the historic centre. This will allow you to explore this authentic village which, according to legend, is said to have inspired the animated film *Beauty and the Beast*. With its vibrant colours and historical anecdotes, the village of Eguisheim is a place to discover, or rediscover.

This is a beautiful hike starting from Eguisheim, offering stunning views over the Alsace plain. We pass by Hagueneck Castle and the Three Castles above Husseren. On the way back, a visit to the picturesque village of Eguisheim is a must, with its beautiful circular rampart street.

A magnificent hike through vineyards and forests from Eguisheim, taking in five castles overlooking the Alsace plain south of Colmar. From the Eguisheim campsite, climb through the vineyards to the Haguenek Tower, then to Hohlansburg Castle via the Herzog Trail, passing by the Fontaine de la Dame fountain, then under the Rocher Turenne rock and the Abri de Stauffen shelter, then return via the Three Castles overlooking Husseren-les-Châteaux and the vineyards overlooking Eguisheim.

Katzenthal is a small Alsatian village situated between Ammerschwihr and Ingersheim. This walk can easily be completed in an hour. You can combine it with a visit to Ammerschwihr, a neighbouring village. This walk takes you past Saint-Nicolas Church and Wineck Castle, a medieval castle which is open to visitors. It is a wine-growing village with undeniable Alsatian charm.

If you enjoy panoramic views from the hillsides of Alsace, on a wide path overlooking Colmar and its surroundings, you will love this hike.

A simple loop along a forest path with the magnificent panorama of the Alsace plain and the Vosges mountains from the Galtz monument as your destination. The climb to the Galtz is a little steep, but in good weather it is a beautiful viewpoint over the Alsace plain and the Black Forest.

Circular hike starting from Katzenthal and Wineck Castle, taking us to the Galtz Monument. Return via the Pfaffenrod Rocks, the Roggenmoser Cross, the hamlet of Hunnabuhl, Saint Wendelin Chapel and the beautiful village of Niedermorschwihr. Two-thirds of the route is through forest and one-third through vineyards. A steady but fairly strenuous climb to the Galtz, where you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view. In good weather, you can even see the Alps!

A pleasant hike between the Vosges forest and stubble fields, passing through the commune of Trois Épis.

Husseren-les-Châteaux is situated at the foot of the Three Castles of Eguisheim. It is a peaceful village nestled in the heart of the Alsatian wine-growing countryside and on the edge of the Vosges. Along the route, there are numerous vantage points offering views over the plain, across to Germany and over the foothills of the Vosges. The walk is short and suitable for families. You can combine this visit with a trip to the neighbouring village of Voegtlinshoffen.

The route takes us to Munster via the vineyards and the cycle path, then follows the River Fecht. The long climb to Gaschney (970 m) follows a forest track offering lovely views over the little Munster valley. A path, which is quite stony in places, leads to Metzeral (Steinabrück). The return journey follows the cycle path at the foot of the mountains.
