Park at the Parking Millénaire Nord
(S/E) Opposite the Parc du Millénaire, follow Rue des Merles to the left. When you reach Rue de Wettolsheim, head down this street to the right. Keep going straight on until you reach the cemetery. Drive past the cemetery until you reach a roundabout with a cross.
(1) Turn right onto the Grand’Rue and walk past the town hall and the plaque explaining the town’s twinning with Hinterzarten. At the junction, keep left onto Rue du Muscat and continue to the next car park. Then turn left onto the Route du Vin to reach a wayside shrine featuring a statue of the Virgin Mary.
(2) Turn back towards the car park and turn left onto Rue des Trois Châteaux. Pass one junction and continue to the next one at Place Charles de Gaulles. Walk up the street on the left to the fountain.
(3) Return to the previous junction and turn left onto Rue du Traminer until you reach the second junction. Then turn left to reach a cross. Return to Rue du Traminer and follow it to the left. Pass a street on your left and, at the wayside cross, continue right onto Rue du Riesling. Follow this street until you reach the Grand’Rue. Turn right onto the Grand’Rue and then left onto Rue du Rempart Sud to admire Eguisheim’s famous narrow house.
(4) Continue along the cobbled street to the left of the house and admire the magnificent Alsatian houses. At the junction, carry on straight ahead and rejoin the Grand’Rue.
(5) Cross over to the opposite side onto Rue du Rempart Nord. At the next three junctions, keep going straight ahead until you rejoin the Grand’Rue. Turn right, then immediately left onto a cul-de-sac. Continue through the pedestrian passageway and then along Rue de l’Allimend Sud. You’ll reach a junction.
(6) Carry on straight ahead along the same street until you reach the Grand’Rue. Continue on the other side along Rue de l’Allimend Nord. Keep going straight on along this street until you reach a car park with toilets. Leave the car park on your right, walk past the toilets on your left and head for the tourist information centre. Then walk up the Grand’Rue to your right until you reach a large square with a fountain.
(7) Cross the square to the left and, at the corner on the left, take the alleyway furthest to the right. Then keep to the right again and continue straight ahead to reach the Church of Saint-Pierre-et-Paul, passing a statue on the way.
(8) With the church on your left, turn right to rejoin the Grand’Rue. Walk down this street, then cross the square to the right at the fountain. At the end, keep left to go round the back of the chapel and the castle. You’ll return to the main square.
(7) Go round the fountain on the right and take a small alleyway on the right. Cut across Rue de l’Allimend Nord, then Rue du Rempart Nord and finally Rue du Traminer to continue along Rue de Colmar. Pass two junctions, then turn right to follow Rue des Oiseaux. Then turn left into Parc du Millénaire. Pass a path on the right, then a track on the left to reach the central path.
(9) Walk up this path on the left before taking Rue des Pinsons opposite. Pass Place des Hirondelles on the left and, at the crossroads, turn sharply right onto Rue de Wettolsheim. At the junction, continue right onto Rue des Merles to reach the car park (S/E).
