Payrac walks

A circular walk that is easy to follow, to explore the villages of Payrac and Camy, with the option of popping into the Lahore farm (goat milking and Rocamadour cheese on sale).

A wash house, castle, churches, wayside crosses and views will punctuate your walk.

An easy short loop starting from Lamothe-Fénelon with a mix of roads, tracks and rolling terrain, with a good number of mills along the Ruisseau du Tournefeuille.

A route taking us up to the heights of Le Vigan en Quercy (Lot-46) Leaving the village and its narrow streets, we gradually climb along small roads and paths to the hamlet of Gamoutou. Winding our way from valley to ridge, passing numerous streams and their mills, we discover beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.

A walk via the Pech de Pinsac, with magnificent views over the Dordogne gorge.

This route, with its varied landscapes, will allow you to enjoy the bucolic setting of the Ribeyrone valley, the wooded solitude of Le Mal Perdu and, finally, the rural architecture of the authentic village of Masclat with its castle and wash houses.

A beautiful hike from Belcastel to Bastit, returning via the village of Meyraguet. This walk can be done in sunny weather, as much of it is in the forest. You can admire the L'Ouysse valley below. After crossing the road at (2), head towards the magnificent village of Le Bastit on the banks of the Dordogne, overlooked by its castle. The return journey is along a path overlooking the Dordogne. No difficulty, just a slight incline.

An incredibly peaceful and easy walk which, following the River Ouysse, allows you to discover a place that feels somewhat removed from the hustle and bustle of modern life. To begin with, there is a beautiful viewpoint overlooking Belcastel Castle. Then, after Les Bertoux, the River Ouysse winds its way through a canyon with no human habitation apart from the few mills that dot the route on the opposite bank. Shaded for almost the entire route, in summer you can enjoy the cool breeze from the river, and finally, you arrive at the fortified mill of Cougnaguet, which you may wish to visit.

From the Ouysse to the Causse de Lacave, a circular route that takes in scenic viewpoints and the cool banks of the Dordogne.

Starting from the Col de Magès, a circular route that takes you to the Gouffre de Cabouy and the Gouffre Saint-Sauveur. The resurgences are most spectacular to see in winter, spring and autumn when the water flow is greater, and on a day with clear skies, which will give beautiful colours to the gushing waters. But it’s different every time, so the best thing is still to go and discover them for yourself. Unfortunately, there is an 800-metre stretch along the road that cannot be avoided without a major detour, but the rest of the walk takes you along paths through some very beautiful, quiet spots.

A very pleasant and easy walk suitable for children, passing through the village of Cieurac and past its castle, then climbing up to the hillside with a beautiful view of the town of Souillac. After passing through walnut groves, the route follows the banks of the Dordogne, with opportunities for swimming in summer.

Pretty route starting through mixed woodland with frequent good views, then climbing to a stunning viewpoint over the Dordogne valley. Mostly fairly gently undulating, with one short but steep descent, and then a steep climb just before the best viewpoint. Mainly on well-marked and defined woodland paths with some bits on very quiet country lanes.

Route on the heights of Souillac, towards the Marjaudes and Présignac viaducts. A very pleasant hike in spring and early summer, with its diverse and varied flora, panoramic views, birdsong, shaded and varied passages and peaceful walks.

A lovely walk along the Dordogne and the surrounding cliffs. The walk starts and finishes in the picturesque village of Saint-Sozy. The outward leg follows the cliff overlooking the Dordogne and offers magnificent views of Belcastel, Lacave, Le Bougayrou and Saint-Sozy. The return route from the pretty village of Blanzaguet offers access to numerous caves before reaching the banks of the Dordogne, where you can go for a swim. ⚠️ 12/05/2026: Not recommended in wet weather, as sections may be slippery! A very pleasant route for the whole family, with no difficulty at all. The route is situated in the valley between Meyronne and the Dordogne. You can see the old kiln of a very old tile works, with its manor house at the edge of the hamlet of Laborie; then we arrive at Port de Creysse where, in summer, a boat can take you across the Dordogne. The return journey takes you through walnut groves in the valley.

As well as its breathtaking beauty, Rocamadour is a tiny village, yet one that harbours a unique architectural and spiritual heritage. The steep, cobbled streets transport you to another era, right at the heart of history. With 216 steps and 1,000 years of history, this village in the Lot conceals millennia-old treasures on the cliffside. Perched above the Gorges de l'Alzou, Rocamadour is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful villages in France.

Circular route through varied terrain starting from Millac and heading towards Souillac. Along the way, you’ll encounter remarkable landscapes and monuments: a ruined chapel (Saint-Julien) and a dolmen (Laval).

A circular loop to the east of the village of Carlux, mostly shaded, with magnificent views, small valleys of remarkable tranquillity, and beautiful Périgord houses. Not to be missed if you have two hours to spare.

After taking a quiet road and a forest path, you will admire the church, the castle and then the narrow streets of the old port. Following the Dordogne to the old railway bridge, the greenway takes you back to the starting point.

A short walk in the vicinity of Montvalent, mostly through woodland until you reach the plateau, before returning to the village. The resurgence at the start of the route and the view from the heights of Montvalent before you arrive are the two main points of interest on this route. No significant difficulty or private roads.

Set off to explore the ruins of Abbaye-Nouvelle as you walk along the Céou valley.

Circular route through the countryside between the village of Baladou and the hamlet of La Garrigue.

Montvalent is a pretty little village straddling the Causse plateau and the valley along the River Dordogne. The village is home to many hidden gems that you can discover throughout this walk.

Between cliffs and river, undergrowth and rocks, a beautiful walk awaits. The Floirac cirque, the banks of the Dordogne, the cliffs of Gluges and the village of Floirac.

In the land of the King of Naples, enjoy a walk through the woods with magnificent views.

A walk around Martel, nicknamed ‘the town of seven towers’, taking in the botanical trail, with lovely views of Martel and its surroundings. The route ends in the narrow streets of the old town, the Halles, the Palais de la Raymondie, etc. The walk starts at the station heading towards the D23: take care as you’ll need to walk a good hundred metres along the departmental road. This walk is suitable for children and in sunny weather, as there are plenty of shaded spots along the route.

A hike punctuated by natural and built heritage treasures, from the medieval town of Martel to the Romanesque church of Murel, the mill and the resurgence of the Œil de la Doue.

Between the valley and limestone hillsides, this walk will take you along wild paths. Discover the traditional houses, dovecotes and bread ovens of the hamlets of Lantis and Mas Teulat.
