A short but very pretty hike in the Octon hills, offering views of Lake Salagou at the start. The destination is the small Romanesque chapel of Notre-Dame de Roubignac (7), but there are other places of interest along the way, such as the dolmen and the ruins of Octon Castle, visible from the other side of the valley.

Country walk to the Priory of Saint-Michel de Grandmont, which is well worth a visit for both its buildings and its grounds.
The local road from Lieude to Causse de Carlencas

Having found traces of this local road No. 13 on the 1827 land registry, I went in search of it. It starts at La Lieude and climbs up through the Las Moles valley.
This hike is reserved for experienced hikers who are familiar with the terrain and enjoy getting off the beaten track.
The path is not always easy to follow in the ruffes (red earth).
Return via Mas Bousquet and Mas Valos le Vieux and Valos le Bas.
No markings - GPS very useful.

Lou Camin Farrat from Soubès

In Soubès, follow the signs to the hikers' car park near the Impasse des Garennes retirement home. Then simply follow the yellow markings, passing through the botanical trail and then the old salt road, which leads to the foothills of the Larzac. This walk offers breathtaking views of the Cirque du Bout du Monde before returning to our starting point via the Camin Farrat.

The artificial lake of Lac de Salagou has created an attraction that goes far beyond water sports and bathing. Geology, pastoralism, old villages, drystone shelters and vineyards complete the appeal of this region, which returns to peace and quiet at the end of summer.
The Béals trail

Set off to explore the village of Salasc, for a refreshing break, and its partly shaded hills, which offer views of the surrounding area and the Salagou valley. The Béals are irrigation channels that have long watered the gardens and are still used today in Salasc.

In a limestone circus setting, this circuit climbs to the foot of the cliffs, offering views of the Lodève countryside. After a refreshing stop in the hamlet of Labeil and its converted cave, it continues on the plateau, enters a dark forest, then crosses the limestone plateau amid a chaotic rock formation.

The Courcol sheepfold

Surrounded by Austrian black pines and often offering panoramic views, this route invites you to climb higher with every step. You will be able to see the Caroux and Escandorgue mountains and even the Mediterranean Sea. Most of the route is on forest tracks.
Cirque du Bout du Monde

To the south of the Causse du Larzac, the trail runs along a ledge overlooking the hamlet of Gourgas. Halfway up the cirque, a trail enters between woods and rocks and crosses the beds of the small tributaries of the Brèze stream: the karstic cave, the Figaret and the Rieussec. Below, the valley opens up to reveal varied landscapes: dark ravines here, bright meadows watered by numerous springs there. The route reaches the Pioch Blanc and then joins the hamlet via the Doumergarie bridge.

From the hill of La Ramasse, passing through Mas de Roujou and then La Tourelle, it will take you to the Saint-Jean Chapel and then to the Baumes estate, crossing the Dourbie river. You will also enjoy the shaded landscapes around Villeneuvette. On the way back, your trail will pass by the Pichaures hill, offering a 360° panoramic view.
