The circuit starts from Liausson. Parking is much easier there than in Mourèze (€2 in 2014). In the village, on the south side, you will find a car park signposted with the hikers' logo.
(S/E) To start, join the D156 which crosses the village, head west and descend for about 100 metres to take the Chemin de Lacan.
(1) Follow this path, which climbs gently towards the Col de Portes. In this section, follow the yellow markings of a loop that climbs up the Montagne de Liausson.
The path gradually narrows and you will soon reach the pass at an altitude of 381 metres. The markings are clearly visible. The yellow trail branches off to the left towards the Montagne de Liausson (which is a shorter alternative). Opposite, the direction of Mourèze is clearly indicated on blue signs.
(2) Begin the descent. After 15 minutes, leave a path on your left that leads to the organ pipes, a stunning landscape that connects to the summit.
Continue the descent, following the signs for Mourèze and the blue markings. Mourèze is a pretty village that is worth a visit if you have time. Continue following the blue markings to return to the cirque. Be careful, as the signs are very far apart at the edge of the village. Look for a large St Andrew's cross made of two wooden posts; the path passes underneath it. Look for the blue sign!
(3) Enter the cirque and admire the unique landscape. Do not take the steep path that leads directly to the ridge, but continue for about 500 m at the foot of the mountain on the path known as the Charbonniers.
Soon you will reach the final climb to the ridge. At the top, you can extend your walk a little by heading west, to the left, to reach an open area with views to the north and Lake Salagou. Otherwise, take the path to the east (right). Look for the yellow markings. The path descends gently along the ridge (about 400 m) then turns north to descend more steeply. The path is stony but easy to walk on. You will have a constant view of Salagou.
When the slope levels out, you have about 600 m to go.
(4) Enter the village via a small street and turn left onto Rue Principale to reach the car park (S/E).
