Park in the car park of Brenas church.
(S/E) Turn right with your back to the church and walk past the town hall.
(1) Turn right onto a concrete road that climbs steeply towards the chestnut grove. Negotiate a left-hand bend near an antenna and join a perpendicular track.
(2) Turn right and continue north.
(3) Leave the path climbing to the left and descend to a meadow (superb panoramic views). After crossing it, descend to the left into the forest, ignoring the side paths. At the bottom, you will reach a crossroads near a walnut orchard.
(4) The marked route (shortcut) branches off to the left. For the basic route, continue straight ahead on the tarmac road and, after the ford, head for the village of Vernazoubres via Chemin des Lignères. After passing a car park and Rue des Maurelles, you will come to the fountain and wash house. Continue straight ahead to reach Rue Roque-Colombe.
(5) Turn right, go past the houses and take Chemin des Aires to continue on the DFCI EOS 2 track. This is a small road that climbs gradually for 1 km until it reaches a right-angle bend to the right.
(6) Turn right onto the tarmac road.
(7) When the road bends to the left, keep to the right and continue north to reach the Chapelle Saint-Amans chapel, ignoring a track on the left.
(8) Turn around.
(7) Continue straight ahead.
(6) Turn right onto the path marked with yellow and red and whiteGR®7markings. Leave the path on the right shortly afterwards. You will then descend between fenced meadows and pastures. Further down, pass a cross and its stone base, the Croix de Durante. Continue downhill for another 900 metres until you reach the D 8E6.
(9) Turn left and continue straight ahead at the crossroads to reach Vernazoubres.
(5) Keep to the right and cross the ford again.
(4) Take the track on the right, beyond the row of walnut trees. Ignore a path on the right: you are now in the beautiful chestnut grove. After a slight climb, you will find yourself on flat ground.
(10) At a large circular bend to the left, ignore a track on the left. You will then have a view of the distant landscape on the right, followed by a descent with two tight hairpin bends. Shortly after a property on the right, descend to the D157.
(11) Climb back up to Brenas on the left. Keep left after 450 m to follow the street up to the car park (S/E)

very beautiful hike with varied landscapes. More elevation gain than expected, but nothing too difficult.
