Eyliac Circular Route
A pleasant walk with few roads, fairly gentle climbs, charming, shaded paths and three castles.
Belisama Circular Loop
A beautiful view of Villamblard and Pouyol Castle; you pass through two hamlets, and for the rest of the way it’s woods, woods, woods. Few roads but plenty of tracks. Sometimes a bit monotonous...
La Chaumardie, Château Caussade and Lanmary
A very pleasant eight-shaped hike with two successive circular loops: wooded paths, few roads, châteaux.
Ambroise Circular Trail
A pleasant walk with wooded sections and views over the rolling countryside south of Périgueux. A few steep sections.
The Vergers Circular from Mensignac
A lovely walk with plenty of views, pleasant paths and some beautiful houses. The Occitan name for the village is Mencinhac.
Circular Preyssac from Château l'Évêque
A lovely walk with many pleasant sections and several points of interest: castle, church, Calvary, memorials.
Eyvirat loop
A fairly long but easy hike: the slopes are gentle and the elevation gain is moderate. There are some beautiful wooded sections, mainly towards the end, and a few views of the rolling countryside, but there are also some paved sections that can be a bit long.
Beauzens loop from Ajat
A beautiful hike covering many kilometres but with little elevation gain. Pleasant paths between low walls and woods, especially after the hamlet of Beauzens. Interesting village, churches, castle, hamlet of Beauzens, stele.
Turon de Hailla from Vizos
A beautiful, little-known hike offering superb 360° views from Léviste to Pibeste via Luz, Bergons, Gavarnie and Viscos. The climb is steep but not difficult, and your thighs will feel the burn on the descent. There is a loop variant starting lower down (Saligos) and returning via Coueylas.
Saint-Orens Abbey and Lake Isaby from Ortiac
A beautiful hike that leads to Lake Isaby via the ruins of Saint-Orens Abbey and the Isaby Valley. A pleasant trail, sometimes steep, mostly in the forest before coming out onto the lake and the surrounding peaks (Soum and Pic de Léviste, Soum Arrouy, Soum de Lascours).
Barade National Forest Loop
A long, peaceful hike in the Barade National Forest (barradaen occitan: closed): calm, wind in the branches, birdsong... It mainly follows firebreaks, with few roads. Moderate elevation gain.
Chantebrune circular and Lavandières roundabout
A beautiful hike that can be adapted to suit your preferences (shorter or longer variants, return trips to viewpoints). Lots of pleasant paths in the woods, few roads. Numerous viewpoints, a castle, springs, a pond...
Circular loop of the 45th parallel in Périgord
A pleasant and rather varied hike that allows you to discover the landscapes of this part of the central Périgord and the valley where the Caudeau river has its source. There are a few sections of tarmac, but they are not very busy.
St-Jean and St-Séverin d'Estissac, the Landais Trail and the Bost walk
No major points of interest on this circular route, apart from the charming little church in Saint-Séverin. Peace and quiet, peace and quiet, peace and quiet, and birdsong! A succession of quiet country lanes and fire tracks for the first, longer section. The final stretch between the two villages is more varied. Option to shorten the route.
The Nicoulou circular starting from Saint-Astier
A lovely, slightly challenging walk (in terms of distance and elevation gain) but well worth the effort. Charming paths through the woods, unobstructed views, beautiful old and modern houses, with uphill, downhill and flat sections!
