Moulézan walks

A hike mostly through forest, under the canopy of the Bois de Lens. Throughout the walk you'll experience stunning scenery. You'll also discover the Pielles Roman quarry, Macassargues caves (which were occupied by Neanderthal man), the pre-Roman sanctuary of Mabousquet (1st century BC), the Clunisian abbey of Jouffre (3rd century) and the Castellas de Montmirat (11th century).

This hike will take you through the hills around Montmirat in the Courme Valley to the ridges of the Lens woods and the promontory of the church of Jouffre (also spelled Jouffe).

This walk allows you to discover part of the Gardonnenque region located north-west of Nîmes. On the hilltops, on a clear day, at the Saint-Mamert mill, you can enjoy a 180° panorama from Pic Saint-Loup to Mont Bouquet, via Mont Aigual and Mont Lozère. In the foreground is the Bois des Leins massif.

A short hike starting from the village of Saint-Côme leads to the Mouressipe oppidum, offering a beautiful view of the Vaunage. This route through the heath will also take you past a few drystone shelters and along a beautiful winding path through a small valley.

This hike will take you through the Vaunage plain, a very fertile valley between Nîmes and Sommières where vineyards and olive groves stretch out. It has been continuously populated since the middle of the Neolithic period, as evidenced by the Congénies menhir dating from around 2500 BC. Seven oppida known to date were built and occupied from the 8th century BC to the 1st century AD, notably by the Volques. Along the way, you will cross heath and vineyards and discover an oppidum (hilltop settlement), a mill and wells dating from Roman times.

This short route through the village of Saint-Chaptes in the Gard allows you to discover the rocks sculpted in open garrigue and also gives you a view over the village, its old narrow streets and its castle.

A lovely hike, preferably done in spring to avoid the summer heat. A fine balance between shady paths in charming oak forests and open areas mostly in vineyards. The thousand-year-old juniper tree alone is worth the trip, such is its majesty.

Not far from Nîmes, Roman and Gallo-Roman remains are legion (so to speak). Castellas, oppidums and Roman fountains line the Roque-de-Vif hill, surrounded by four charming villages in the Vaunage region: Saint-Dionisy to the north, Nages and Solorgues to the south, and Langlade to the east, with its pretty windmill.

A pleasant, easy hike. Mostly on paths, sometimes on small roads. Landscapes of garrigue, vines and woods. Several mills line the route. You must make a short round trip to the Vidourle to admire them and enjoy the river's restful calm (on this day!!).

This hike is inseparable from the history of the Vidourle, the river that has shaped the life and landscapes of the region. You will come across mills and cross ancient passes.

This pleasant hike takes you past châteaux (Sommières, Villevieille), olive groves dotted with drystone shelters, and small woods. It also passes through the old Bon Temps quarries in Junas, which host a jazz festival in July.

A walk in scrubland from Langlade to the Gallo-Roman site of the Oppidum de Nages offering a view of the entire Vaunage with the Cevennes, the sea and Pic-Saint-Loup in the distance. It ends with a visit to the village of Langlade with its narrow streets, mill, its temple, its 2 squares... and its ancient houses.

This hike from Langlade will take you through the heath to the Oppidum de Nages, the Roque de Viou and the Castelas via paths that are sometimes in the undergrowth and sometimes on the cliff edge with views of the Vaunage. A beautiful variation on another hike in the same area.

Serre d'Avène is one of the many hills north of Bagard and the highest of them all. This circular hike will take you there via tracks and paths through the heath. At the summit, you will discover a beautiful view of the Cévennes and the Alès conurbation.

A beautiful circuit in the Gard countryside allowing you to discover the town of Anduze from the rock dominating it. Very pleasant circuit in the Gard countryside allowing you to discover this Mediterranean vegetation made of green oaks and chestnut trees. Here, the thyme is very prevalent, allowing you to breathe air much more perfumed than the one in our cities.

A walk to discover a superb oppidum, with a wonderful view of the Vaunage valley, the source of the Ranquet and the Serre de la Font.

A hike in the heart of the heath with panoramic views of the sea, Pic Saint-Loup, the Cévennes and Mont Lozère In April, the path between (3) and (5) is lined with dwarf irises, asphodels and beautiful wild orchids!

A short route to discover Anduze and climb to the top of the rock overlooking the town.

A long loop to climb to the summit of Capélans, which offers a fine view of the surrounding area, then to discover the dolmens on the Grande Pallières ridge and the Panissière dolmen further down. Return via the quiet districts of Anduze.

A short hike in shade to discover no less than five Neolithic dolmens, including the four dolmens of the Grande Pallières site.

Small circuit around Euzet, to discover the Cave or Baume des Camisards.

This is a simple hike with little elevation gain, just over 20 km, so it's a bit challenging but still accessible to many. Above all, it's a very pleasant hike. Starting from Euzet-les-Bains, this route takes you through Saint-Hippolyte-de-Caton, Saint-Étienne-d'Olm, Saint-Cézaire-de-Gauzignan, Saint-Maurice-de-Cazevieille and Saint-Jean-de-Ceyrargues. Between each village, you will pass through pleasant countryside with fields and woods.
