From Lauzet to Roche Rousse through the tunnels, following the railway line
The unfinished railway project at the beginning of the 20th century left behind some beautiful viaducts and tunnels that are ideal for an unusual hike. The return journey can be made via theGRP® Tour du Lac de Serre-Ponçon. This is an original hike that winds its way through hamlets and abandoned farms, ending in the inhabited hamlets of the commune of Lauzet. Finally, you cross the famous Roman bridge over the Ubaye Gorges.

This is a beautiful route with no real difficulties, offering magnificent scenery along most of the way. The 360° view from the Homme de Pierre viewpoint is truly spectacular. The Martinat ridge also offers superb panoramic views.
The summit of Le Méale
The summit of Le Méale offers a beautiful view of Embrunnais, Parpaillon and Serre-Ponçon. Most of the route is through forest on a beautiful trail. What's more, it can be done from May to mid-November.

A lovely loop walk, fairly well shaded, but still offering numerous views along most of the route. The view from the summit is remarkable.
Le Belvédère de Bragousse
Belle randonnée dans la Forêt Domaniale de Boscodon sur un flanc du Pic de Morgon avec de superbes vues sur le Cirque de Bragousse.
Pointe de l'Eyssina
A magnificent hike that takes you along a pleasant ridge to a summit with spectacular views. Breathtaking 360° panorama of the Embrunais, Dévoluy, Écrins, Queyras and Ubaye.
The route is on an unmarked trail, so you will need to supplement the description with the Visorando app.
The Col du Pouzenc
If you are in the Serre Ponçon area, this hike is well worth the climb. You will walk through a very quiet valley that is rarely visited, even in the height of summer, inhabited only by marmots and a few chamois, and hundreds of alpine flowers of all kinds in July!
There is an impressive view of Serre-Ponçon once you reach the pass.
Lac Sainte-Marguerite and Source de Jérusalem
A very pleasant circular above Les Orres resort, allowing you to discover a beautiful lake, Sainte-Marguerite, and the springs that feed Les Orres, named Jerusalem.
Mont Orel
Mont Orel overlooks Embrun. It can be reached via the Col de la Coche. Walk along the peaks to the crosses. Magnificent view of the Lac de Serre-Ponçon, the surrounding valleys and the Écrins in the distance. A gentler descent via the Pra Leydon chapel. A hike that ends with a contemplative stroll through the Saluces Forest. A very quiet hike apart from a few chamois at the summit.
The only slight difficulty is finding the cairns in the mountain pastures.
The Cols de l'Écuelle and Cols de Vars starting from Vars-les-Claux
A beautiful family hike starting from the Vars-les-Claux resort, taking you to the Col de l'Écuelle via the old Combe Froide rock glacier and then the very touristy Col de Vars.
There are many variations on this hike, but I suggest the wildest route possible to avoid the human developments on the mountain.
From Boscodon Abbey to the hamlet of Saint-Jean
A very pleasant hike in the mid-mountains with beautiful views of Lake Serre-Ponçon, Embrun and the Aiguilles de Chabrières. The hamlet of Saint-Jean is well worth a visit with its church, cemetery and old municipal hearses (built and restored by ASPEC).

A pleasant and easy walk to the Col de Vars, where you are sure to spot marmots.

Col de la Rousse and Pic de Charance from the Grande Cabane
A very varied hike. Larch woods, a circular path with views of the Embrunais and Lake Serre-Ponçon; the Cirque de Bragousse and its Demoiselles, not to mention the Col de la Rousse and its mountain pastures and the Pic de Charance with its view of the Cirque de Morgon.

A pleasant hike through the woods.
Grand route of Pic de Morgon

What's more, this route offers great variety.
Refuge de la Pare, Soleil Bœuf and Crête des Cognetons
Hike starting from La Frache, a hamlet above Saint-Pons and Barcelonnette. This is a very pretty hike with beautiful views, but it is not recommended in bad weather.Moderator's rating: difficult, between (9) and (10), see reviews
Views of Lake Serre-Ponçon from the Col de Pontis
A charming little loop hike combining wooded passages, stony paths and panoramic ridges. Some sections may be daunting for those prone to vertigo, but the route is well worth the effort: breathtaking views of Lake Serre-Ponçon, the Ubaye, the Durance, the bay of Saint-Michel, Morgon and Morgonnet, as well as the entire surrounding mountain range, from Les Chabrières to Mont Guillaume. And to round off the walk in style, a stop at the small chapel, carefully restored by the Rimachays association, is a must. A true moment of serenity in the heart of nature.

Hike in the Parpaillon massif, located at the foot of the majestic Grand Morgon, fairly wild and well shaded, with beautiful views of the Lac de Serre-Ponçon, on the Durance and Ubaye sides. Possible variations to reach the summit of Morgonnet or La Coquille.
The bread oven at Rioclar
This is a short walk, the main purpose of which is to admire the surrounding mountains, including the Tête de Louis XVI. The village's municipal bread oven, still used by the villagers, bears witness to a time when Rioclar was isolated from the valley.
