Coming from Pontis by car, follow the D7 for about 2,500 metres and take the path on the left at the stone hut, at the Col de Pontis. Follow this path to the end (do not go past the Hugues farm, but take the path on the left just before it), towards Morgonnet.
Park your car in the small dirt car park before the sign prohibiting vehicles.
(S/E) The hike begins by taking the path that climbs to the left of the car park through black marl (yellow markings not very visible) and then through pine trees. The path turns right in a hairpin bend along the ridge and offers beautiful views of the lake. After a little effort, you will quickly reach a meadow and then the Cabane du Jas (1615m).
(1) After a short photo break, continue along the path through the forest to the Col du Morgonnet (picnic area with tables).
(2) Take the path on the right, which climbs quite steeply to Morgonnet. From the summit, continue along the ridge to complete a loop and return to the path you took on the way up.

You will see a majestic rock in front of you, called the Grand Morgon (2,324 m).
The return journey follows the main path (GR® de Pays - Tour du Lac de Serre-Ponçon) to the car park (S/E).
