The walk starts from the Source de Jean Blanc picnic area in the commune of Baratier. Head to the village of Crots, south-west of Embrun, and continue towards L'Osselin. Pass this hamlet and continue along the forest road for about 1.3km (unpaved).
(S/E) Head south-east from the top of the picnic area. The trail is signposted (not shown on the IGN map) and marked in yellow. Join the trail that climbs up from Baratier.
(1) Continue on the right to reach the Belvédère de Plat Aiguille after about an hour's climb.
(2) Three orientation tables present the panorama.
Turn back about twenty metres and head opposite (south-west) to quickly reach the Grande Rocade forest road.
(3) Take it to the right as you descend.
(4) At the fork, take the right-hand hairpin bend onto the Charamaille forest road, which leads back to the starting point (S/E).
. If you do the route in our direction, the start of the return trail is a little difficult to find, but no worries with GPS. From this point on, the trail is a real delight. In the forest, well sheltered from the sun, you follow a small stream and arrive at a curiosity: limestone pools that form steps (a bit like Pamukkale in Turkey, relatively speaking: lol
. Return to the picnic area without difficulty.
