From the town centre to the Forêt des Moines in La Couronne
This walk starts in the centre of La Couronne; you will pass the Town Hall, then Saint-Jean-Baptiste Church, the renovation of which was completed in 2020. You will cross the courtyard and then the garden of Château de l’Oisellerie. After skirting the Bois de l’Oisellerie and crossing the Forêt des Moines, you will return to the town centre via the villages of Grand Maine and Les Barrets.
The Lycée de l’Oisellerie prohibits anyone from crossing its grounds for safety reasons.

Among the vineyards and the Nouère
Follow the Voie Verte, the former P'tit Rouillat railway line. Walk through vineyards, small woods and farmland before reaching the Nouère in the charming village of Gouthiers.
Route of Les Meulières de Claix and Les Chaumes du Vignac
The hike to the Meulières de Claix and Chaumes du Vignac sites is located south-west of Angoulême, 20 minutes by car via the RN 10. A protected site for its flora and fauna, it is a limestone plateau offering beautiful views of the Claix valley. The hike is beautiful and offers varied landscapes alternating between rocky areas (Meulières and Chaumes du Vignac), forests, vineyards, hamlets, historical monuments and cultivated plains.
Walk along the South Quay in Angoulême
A walk along both banks of the Charente, in an urban setting, past green spaces and disused buildings, with some very picturesque views. It ends with a lovely 1km stretch along the south quay.
The shepherds' path in Châteauneuf
The shepherds who lived here built the Church of Saint-Surin in the 9th century. After the Revolution, this church was attached to Châteauneuf. Climbing a little higher, you can see the diversity of the surrounding landscapes, then descend along the Charente.

The Petite Prairie route starting from the lake
Situated in a protected area, this is a more secluded and unspoilt part of the Coulée Verte, running alongside the branches of the Charente, which will take you to the charming village of Saint-Yriex Vénat and its chapel. As you climb up through the Bois des Rouyers, you will discover the Fontaine des Pots, where hemp was once retted.
