Start: Champmillon town hall square.
(S/E) Follow the footpath running alongside Rue du Bourg (church on your left). At thefirst fork, turn right. When you reach the village wash house, take Rue du Lavoir (signposted). Then take Rue du Levraud on the left, heading back up to Rue du Bourg
(1) Turn right, walk 500 m and turn right onto Rue des Matignons.
(2) Continue for 150 m, then turn left onto a dirt track between the vineyards.
(3) Cross the D72 road and take the path opposite towards the hamlet of Chez Jaunet. At the junction (marker 56), continue straight on uphill. When you reach a tarmac village road, turn right and cross the hamlet of Chez Jaunet. Continue to the next hamlet, Le Picot. Then take the tarmac path on the left, walk for about 200 m and turn right.
(4) At Font Verrière, turn left, leaving the large townhouse behind you. Continue straight on, cross the D84 and take the dirt track opposite until you reach the next house (Le Renclos). Then take the tarmac road on the left to the next hamlet, Les Brandes.
(5) Take the dirt track to the right. At the next junction (after the 61m mark), ignore the track on the left and continue straight ahead. At the next junction, turn left (south). When you reach a tarmac road, turn right towards the village of Sireuil. Follow the D7 to the left, then turn right immediately. Pass the bakery on your left and head for the right bank of the Charente.
(6) Then take the white path on the right towards the Liège lock. Follow the Charente, pass under a high-voltage power line and walk along the Île de la Liège.
(7) About a hundred metres before the Liège lock, turn right onto a tarmac path. Continue to the D72. Turn right (old sewage treatment plant on your right), follow the road for a few metres and, before the ‘white’ car park, turn left. Join a footpath and follow it to the left until you reach the town hall (S/E).
