(S/E) Park near the church in Saint-Surin. Go up to the left, passing a pretty little well in a recess.
(1) Continue straight ahead for a few metres, then leave the road and take a good path on the right. Pass through the vineyards.
(2) Near a wood, pass under a power line on the right and follow the path that enters the woods. Stay on this path, ignoring those coming from the left and right. When you are close to the edge of the woods, turn right to stay in the woods, at the edge. The path turns left, follow it, leave the woods and then enter them again a little further on.
(3) Cross a road (D84) to take the right path opposite. At the rubbish bins, turn left, then right between the vineyards (GR®4markings). Follow this path, keeping to the right. The path runs alongside a very steep wood; stay on the higher ground and take advantage of the orientation table a little further on. Continue on this good path until you reach a small road.
(4) Cross the road and take the stone path opposite, which then becomes grassy. It suddenly turns right and descends steeply in a curve. When you reach a small wash house, follow a small street and turn right into Rue des Moulins.
(5) Leave the road, head towards the banks of the Charente and start following it. First along a field, then between the restaurant and the river to pass under the bridge, continuing as close as possible to the river.
(6) Pass by the lock, continue along the Charente, and leave a small road on your right. After 2 km, at a hedge, the path turns away from the river at a right angle, then turns left again to go up towards Saint-Surin. The path leads to Saint-Surin at the well.
Turn left to return to your vehicle (S/E).
Watch out for the climb! And pay close attention to the signs, as there is another route that follows this path.
