Description of the walk

Start from the car park at the town hall square.

Red markings

(S/E) Climb the steps of the town hall, a former 17th-century residence. Walk along the terrace to the left and back down to pass in front of the old wine press and Saint-Orient Church. Head down the narrow lane on the left leading to the Charente. Walk along the riverbank to the right for 1 km.

(1) Turn right before the power lines. Note the wash house as you reach the road. Cross over to take the Venelle des Amelins opposite. At the end, follow the road to the right.

(2) At the fork, leave the road and take the white track on the right. As you climb, note the ditches carved into the rock.

(3) At the four-way junction, turn right behind the house and continue straight on to the Carrefour de la Croix Chevalière. On the plateau, a magnificent panorama of vine-covered hills unfolds before the walker; to the right stands the bell tower of Saint-Simeux church.

(4) Take a sharp left. A little further up, turn right onto the path leading down towards the village, where the church of Saint-Orient gradually comes into view. Turn right and pass through the hamlets of La Vergne and Chez les Rois.

(5) Follow the Route de Chez les Rois to the right, then turn left into the next street. Cross the D7 to reach the town hall (S/E).

Hello, a very beautiful hike that combines a walk along the Charente river and on the plateau surrounded by vineyards.
The map and description are accurate, except for the plateau where the last right turn in the middle of the fields is not indicated due to a missing signpost
Enjoy your walks, everyone.
