Discovering the vineyard cottages

Throughout this route, you’ll come across small cottages amongst the vineyards; these were used by winegrowers to store equipment and also to take shelter during breaks. One of them is open to the public.

Description of the walk

(S/E) From the car park at Moulidars church, head towards the town hall. Leave it on your left and go down the street of the same name. After about a hundred metres, you’ll pass a pretty little wash house. The road then curves to the right before turning left.

(1) Turn right onto a good track through the vineyards; carry on, ignoring the first path on the right.

(2) At a junction of paths, turn left, still amongst the vineyards, towards the houses at La Barre. Cross the D63 to pass between the houses. When the tarmac ends, turn right onto a good path that climbs. At the T-junction, turn left, staying on a wide path.

(3) Cross a road and continue straight ahead for almost two kilometres, still on this track. Pass a small copse on the right, then come to a larger one.

(4) At the T-junction, turn left, heading slightly downhill. Cross a small stream; the track turns left then right. Carry on straight ahead at the next junction, then at the Fork in the road take the grassy track on the left.

(5) After passing a small ruined cottage, cross the road. Pass beneath two other small cottages and continue in the same direction to cross the D405 and then the D63.

(6) One hundred metres past the D63, turn left onto a well-maintained path that climbs. Pass close to the cemetery and head towards Les Pannetiers.

(7) At the village square, turn left; the road winds its way between the houses. Carry on straight ahead towards the bell tower of Moulidars. Once in Moulidars, cross the road and continue straight on towards the town hall and the war memorial, then turn right to reach the church car park (S/E).

We were looking for a route that was passable at this time of year when the ground is waterlogged, and we didn't encounter any difficulties.
Beautiful vineyard landscapes and heritage sites

The second route at MOULINARS offers little variety, consisting of nothing but long straights and vineyards
