Salagnon walks

A short hike to keep fit around Salagnon, a commune in northern Isère located in the Bourgoin-Jallieu, Crémieu and Morestel triangle.

This is an easy, well-known walk that allows you to discover the surroundings and heritage of Saint-Chef. In particular, it takes you past the abbey church.

Hike around the Moras lake through the Bois de Fromentay in the Balmes Dauphinoises for a breath of fresh air, passing by the pretty 14th-century Château de Montplaisant.

An easy little walk for a Sunday afternoon.

Walk near the CAPI, mainly in the woods. In the first part, there are beautiful views of the Bourbre valley, Bourgoin-Jallieu and Isle d'Abeau. On the way back, you walk along the Étang de Moras, but the reeds prevent you from seeing the shore. A few communal ovens and wash houses adorn the route. Yellow signposts throughout the route. Allow between 3 and 4 hours depending on your pace and photo stops.

This circuit will take you to several ponds around Siccieu and Saint-Julien and offer superb views of the foothills of the Bugey and, on a clear day, the Alps.

A lovely circuit in Île Crémieu with a visit to the Lemps Pond nature reserve. This circuit is open to all and presents no difficulty.

This short family walk offers beautiful panoramic views of the Aravis, Mont Blanc, the Dent du Chat, the Bauges, Belledonne, the Chartreuse and the Vercors.

A loop starting from Veyssilieu to discover some panoramic views and the chapel of Notre-Dame de la Salette at the top of Chatelan mountain. Note: this loop follows the routes indicated on the large map at the side of the road, i.e.: Cros de Lavan, Les Gorges, Frétignier, Seuillere, Floutier and back to Veyssilieu.

We will tour the hamlets of this unusual commune, where the town hall, school, church, cemetery and village hall are located outside the residential areas. We will discover several châteaux, a bread oven and panoramic views of the Ain plain.

This circuit will take you to Lac de Moras and, on a clear day, there is a superb view of the Alps and the lake from the Moras cemetery.

A short walk that takes us to Mont Morel and Étang de Charamel via the Tilleul de Sully, with a glimpse of the archaeological site of Panossas.

This pleasant little walk will allow you to enjoy a mix of woods, meadows and crops. It will also enrich your photo album, as you can capture the wildlife on the Varnieu pond, located on this route, and the original architecture of Bourcieu Castle.

A lovely walk in the heart of northern Isère. It offers numerous panoramic views, from the summit of Mont Blanc to the Chartreuse Mountains.

This shaded trail leads to the top of the cliff at the Leyrieu Chapel and offers superb views of the Lyon plains and the Pilat massif. On a clear day, you can see the Alps and the Vercors massif.

A lovely loop if you fancy an easy, not too long, shady walk, starting from the Chapelle-de-la-Tour car park, with no special equipment required. You could potentially spot ponies, horses, cattle, etc. We went in May, so we recommend going in the morning for the shade and milder temperatures in summer.

A beautiful, relatively easy walk along roads and paths, allowing you to discover the flora, fauna and habitat of this regional nature reserve. No major difficulties apart from a steady climb in the middle of the route. A review dated 17/04/23 indicates that a section is now private (6), but it is possible that the marked trail has been diverted or that the hiker was unable to find the path due to construction work. We would appreciate it if anyone passing through the area could confirm or deny this.

A lovely, pleasant and varied walk. There are no difficulties to be feared, as the elevation gain is well distributed. Towards Quinsonnas, you will have beautiful views of the mountains. You will pass three interesting buildings: the Château de Quinsonnas, the Demeure de Fichaillon and the Church of Vermelle. The icing on the cake is the descent into the charming valley of the Verneicu stream.

This short route will take you to the archaeological site of Villa du Vernai, along a gravel pit that has been transformed into a small lake, and to the Étang du Peillard.

This is a very pleasant circular walk starting from the pretty village of Vernas, which takes you along attractive paths and trails, often shaded by trees, to the Plateau des Aviateurs, where a military aircraft crashed in 1944 and another in 1969. A small chapel, commemorative plaques and a sign commemorate these events. Wide panoramic views of the Rhône plains and the Alps in the distance can be enjoyed throughout the walk.

A walk in a natural environment where you can observe a wide variety of wildlife, including European pond turtles at the Lemps pond. This hike can be done in late October or early November, when you can admire the beautiful autumn colours of the bald cypress trees at the Surbaix pond next to the La Roche waterfall.

A lovely, gentle walk, part of which is along the Rhone, which you can do as a family.

A shaded trail that takes you through the Gorges de Verbois, very pleasant in hot weather, and past some typical buildings.

This circuit takes us from the village of Hières-sur-Amby at the foot of the cliff to the archaeological site of Larina on the cliff. It offers panoramic views of the Pilat Massif, the Monts du Lyonnais, the plains of Lyon and the Ain, and the foothills of the Bugey.

A very beautiful day's walk on more than 90% paths and trails, in the undergrowth surrounded by nature where you can really breathe, not far from Bourgoin-Jallieu and Lyon.

This walk is taken from the "Du bois de la Vacheresse à celui du Revollet" hike by Jipedeu, of which it forms the western wing. A pleasant alternation between woods, clearings and cultivated fields. Few roads and lots of clean, well-maintained paths, very pleasant in all seasons.

A forest where you feel at peace. According to legend, the Vallin forest in the commune of Saint-Victor-de-Cessieu was frequented by druids and Templars who came to enjoy its healing properties. Several places in the forest are said to be full of energy, and there is a special energy in this place that confuses compasses. It is a pretty forest of beech, oak and hazel trees. Part of the forest has been replanted with Douglas firs, cherry trees and red oaks.

A beautiful hike, fairly well marked in blue with directional signs (sometimes a little faded), between 630 and 900 metres above sea level, easy, mostly on good, well-shaded paths. On very clear days, there are views of the snow-capped Alps and the villages of Marchand and Cerin. For flower lovers, between May and July, there are martagon lilies, orchids, snowdrops and erythronium. And for those who like the cool air, they can go to the Grotte de la Jaquette cave near the path.
