Woods and marshes at Passins

A short warm-up hike through the woods, marshes and hamlets of Passins. The terrain varies between cycle paths, tracks, trails and roads. In autumn, the landscape is very colourful.

Description of the walk

Park on the side of the road between the crossroads and the Crevières bus shelter.

(S/E) Cross the road, go to the crossroads and turn right onto Chemin de la Massotière, then take the road on the right, against the traffic, towards the charming hamlet of Le Bron. At the end of Chemin du Bron, turn left onto Route de Chassins.

(1) Going down the road, take the second path on the right in the bend, towards the woods. Ignore the paths leading off to the right and continue downhill until you reach the cycle route.

(2) Take this road on the right and follow it downhill until you reach the sign for the Save nature reserve and its ponds.

(3) Turn right and follow the path along the ponds. Two small detours on the path offer beautiful views of the ponds on the left. There are arrows at these points. Continue until you reach a road.

(4) This is the least interesting part, but you have to get back somehow! You can turn around and retrace your steps.
Otherwise, follow the road to the right to return to Crevières, and cross it by following the main road.

(5) At the crossroads, you have two options:
- turn right onto Chemin du Bron to rejoin the outward route, or turn left to return to the car park.
- otherwise, continue straight ahead. Before the path to the ford on the left, take the first road on the right to return to the starting point (S/E).

A lovely, easy short walk around the southern marshes of Passin / Arandon. Frogs, dragonflies and, if you’re lucky, marsh birds.

A lovely walk through fields, woodland and marshes. Quiet and uncrowded, with plenty of flower species to admire (for those who enjoy looking… and taking photos). An alternative route to avoid the road on the way back: after the marshes and about 200 m before you reach the road again, on the right there is a path marked by a sign prohibiting horses and bicycles; this cuts across the field and then joins a path on the left, which you follow to the end. It rejoins the original route.
