Parking at Sablonnières (hamlet of Sermérieu) near the old train station.
(S/E) Take the D517 towards Morestel. After 650m, cross the road in the bend and find a good path right at the start of the safety barrier.
(1) Follow this path for 900 m, then turn left at the end and right after 200 m.
(2) Stay on this path for 700 m until you reach the D522, then cross straight ahead. Continue for 300 m and turn left onto the road.
(3) Immediately turn right onto a good path for 400 metres.
(4). Take the path on the right for 400 m and turn right into the hamlet of Tirieu.
(5) Take the second left to the end of the street and turn right.
(6) After 150 m, take the path that climbs to the left.
After 600 m, go straight across a crossroads. After 500 m, pass a path on the right and continue straight ahead. After 700 m, pass a path on the right and continue straight ahead.
(7) After 200 metres, go straight across the crossroads.
(8) After 50 metres, at the fork, take the path that branches off to the left.
The path leads to a road, turn left and then immediately right onto a good path.
(9) After 350 metres, take the second path on the left.
(10) At Chanizieu, take the D140 on the right for 200m.
(11) Follow the road that climbs to the left for 450 metres and take a good path on the right.
(12). Please note: leave this road immediately after 50 metres and take a less marked path on the left. After 700 metres, descend onto a carriage road that leads back to Chanizieu.
(13) Climb left for 1 km to reach a crossroads.
(14). Take the path on the right and follow it, leaving two paths on the right, until you reach elevation 340.
(15) At this crossroads, continue straight ahead and, after 30 metres, take a path on the left until you reach another crossroads (elevation 352).
(16) Continue straight ahead for 400 metres and go over the cattle grid on the left. A lovely single track runs through the woods along the Lemps pond and leads back to a carriage road.
(17) Turn left, pass in front of the observation hut, leave the nature reserve car park on your left and continue right on this good path which leads back to the Bois des Comtesses crossroads.
(14) In the grass, follow a track that branches off to the right (south-southwest) and joins a muddy path, which you should take to the right. Leave a path on your left and continue until you reach a crossroads.
(18) Descend the path on the left and, after 2 km, you will reach Optevoz.
(19). Turn left onto Rue Camille Corot, then left again onto the D140a road towards Courtenay.
(20) After 600m, take a carriage road on the right. Leave a path on the left after 1km and continue right on the right path that leads back to the Chemin des Romains (elevation 291).
(21). Take the path on the left to the next crossroads (elevation 301), then turn left. Pass a path on the left and continue on the right, alongside the Étang Neuf lake. After the lake, the path turns right and climbs up to a farm.
(22). Cross the group of buildings and continue along the path, which becomes muddy. Cross a crossroads at elevation 234 and, after 250m, you will find a magnificent single track on the right.
(23). At the end of the Petit Étang, take the path that climbs to the right and ignore the path that branches off to the left. Keep to the right, continue climbing through the woods and finally descend to the By equestrian farm.
(24). Take the D140 towards Soleymieu for 200m. After an old small quarry, a barely visible path branches off to the left. Take this path and you will come to a stony track.
(25). Turn left onto this path, which leads back to the Abîmes stream. After a pleasant descent, ford the stream and you will reach the hamlet of Tirieu.
Take the road on the right, which descends, pass a crossroads, and continue keeping to the left until you reach the boules court. Leave the road on the left and follow a carriage road that leads back to the crossroads you passed on the way there.
(4) Continue to the road.
(3). Take the road on the right for 400 metres and, at the bend, go straight on along the path that leads back to Sablonnière. Follow the road on the right for 300 metres and turn left onto Chemin de la Marcotonne. This joins the D522. Turn right and you will return to the car park (S/E).
