A beautiful and varied walk through the countryside, culminating in the medieval village of Saint-Julien-le-Montagnier (with its chapels, mills, church and 360° panorama of Provence).
The hilltop village of Saint-Julien-le-Montagnier
Located on a hilltop at an altitude of 580 metres, overlooking the plain, the historic old village of Saint-Julien-le-Montagnier offers a superb panorama of the Durance valley, the Verdon mountains, the Montagne de Lure and, on a clear day, Mont Ventoux.
At the edge and on the heights of Lake Esparron
A family hike partly along the edge of Lake Esparron with many opportunities for swimming and picnicking. The second part of the hike is mostly in the woods with views of Lake Esparron. This hike is generally very shaded.
Gréoux-les-Bains - Les Maurras - Notre-Dame des Oeufs
This circular walk, which follows some of the classic trails of Gréoux and some lesser-known paths, will take you from Gréoux-les-Bains to the hamlet of Maurras via a forgotten hamlet. On the way back, you will climb up to the Notre-Dame des Oeufs Chapel and from there to the pylons overlooking Gréoux, from where you will return to your starting point.

Le Marchand de Nuages, Le Colostre and the Verdon
A hike between Gréoux-les-Bains and Saint-Martin-de-Brômes, starting in the mountains, continuing through the Colostre valley and returning via a small path along the Verdon.

Circuit along the Colostre
This walk near Gréoux-les-Bains allows you to discover a tributary of the Verdon, the Colostre, a charming little river that flows all year round in a small, fairly steep-sided valley. Also on the programme are an oppidum and the magnificent village of Saint-Martin-de-Brômes.
La Colle loop (Autour de la Colle), Esparron-de-Verdon
On this hike you will be rewarded with beautiful views into the village of Esparron-de-Verdon and across to the hills of the Verdon Canyon. Enjoy the flowers, butterflies and olive trees as well as an optional visit to see the village chateau and church.
Lac d'Esparron and the "Salle à Manger" site
A circular eight-shaped loop starting from the village of Esparron-de-Verdon. A round trip takes you to the pretty site of the "Salle à Manger" in the lower Gorges du Verdon (access to water possible).
After starting on a small road, the route alternates between rocky paths and wide tracks.
There are some lovely views of the lake and glimpses of the plateaus of Provence and its lavender fields.

Artigues via the ridges
Circular, via the ridges of Montagne d'Artigues, with an optional visit to the village of Esparron. The first part follows the red and white markings of the GR®99A, and the second part follows the blue markings on the ridges.
From the Valensole plateau to the Montpezat and Artignosc lakes
The territory of Saint-Laurent-du-Verdon stretches from the banks of the river to the Valensole plateau. What a beautiful setting for a walk between the blue of the lavender and the blue of the lakes created by the construction of the Quinson dam. And if the sky is at its best, what a symphony of blues!
The Gorges du Verdon and Lake Artignosc
A splendid hike starting from the Château de Saint-Laurent-Du-Verdon, which is private property. Do not enter the château grounds.
You will walk along forest paths, skirting part of the Verdon Gorge and part of Lake Artignosc, as well as magnificent green meadows and fields of lavender in bloom from mid-June to mid-July.
This is an easy hike, ideal for beginners and occasional walkers
Saint-Laurent-du-Verdon via the Château Chiron
A very pleasant route starting from Saint-Laurent-du-Verdon with views of the Verdon.
The plain and forest of the Montagne de l'Artigues
An alternating view of pasture and fresh forests, this pleasant flat walk will lead you past the Notre Dame d'Esparron chapel and its small cemetery classified as an historical monument.
Crossing the tiny village of Artigues is also surprising. You'll particularly enjoy refilling your water bottles at the communal fountain.
The advantage of this charming loop that it's flat and very manageable, there are only one or two small climbs along the route.
The Trois Croix site via the Notre-Dame-de-Bellevue Chapel
A walk to a superb viewpoint and two orientation tables, opening to the north towards Digne and Valensole and to the south-west towards Mont Sainte-Victoire, Mont Aurélien and the Sainte-Baume massif.
Boucle des Crêtes de Vautubière
Located between Sainte-Victoire and Luberon, the Montagne de Vautubiere offers beautiful views of the entire Provençal mountains (from the Southern Alps to Sainte-Baume).
You can also discover a pretty hidden agricultural valley. This walk combines superb views with the freshness of cultivated meadows surrounded by forests, offering a pleasant change of scenery.
Trou du Loup and Ravin de Bernadine, with return via La Bosse
An easy loop starting from Corbières, with the Torrent de Corbières gorges and the Trou du Loup. The start of the walk offers a glimpse of the gorge on a gently ascending path, with very cool spots and a wide variety of flora. The Ravin de Bernadine has the same atmosphere but with a torrent that is often dry. The climb to La Bosse and the descent on the way back take you through scrubland typical of the Luberon. A pleasant way to discover the hills and scrubland of the Luberon.
Le Trou du Loup via the cairn
This is a pleasant hike with a visit to the Chapelle Saint Brice, another to the cairn built here for the 20th anniversary of the Sainte Tulle Hiking Club, and finally the Trou du Loup reservoir.
Pontevès, Petit Bessillon and Vallon des Carmes
A loop with three major points of interest:
- the village of Pontevès and its ruined castle at the top of the village,
- the climb up the Petit Bessillon, offering a beautiful view of the Var department, and its technical descent,
- the return to Barjols via the Vallon des Carmes and its waterfalls (currently closed, see practical information).
Unfortunately, the first hour of the hike is mainly on roads in order to complete the loop.
Valensole plateau on the Asse side
The Valensole plateau enjoys exceptional light and unique colours that shine particularly brightly in summer: fields of lavender, clary sage, wheat, olive trees and sunflowers against a backdrop of blue mountains attract many photographers.

Slopes steeped in history | Petit Bessillon in Pontevès
The Bessillons twins are battered witnesses to history. Occupied during the Iron Age, they saw Pontevès develop during the Middle Ages and served as a refuge for the Resistance during theSecond World War.Developed by the Provence Verdon Community of Communes, the Randonner Autrement project aims to introduce families to the natural heritage, the outlying built heritage, the landscapes and their evolution, as well as views of the villages.
